Brakes Squeal

UPDATE:
First, to clarify, no work has been done yet; the service advisor said he misunderstood initially and the tech wanted all the parts in before doing any of the work, which makes sense. Just got the call that all parts are finally in and it’s scheduled for Tuesday, 3/18, to be covered under warranty. I will report back once the work is done and, hopefully, this ends the Saga of the Squeal…permanently. Time will tell.

I’m also going to ask again about the heated seats. I just cannot believe that’s as hot as they are supposed to get. I may have to try out some on the lot while I wait and see if I notice a difference with them.
Had the work completed on the front brakes. The tech notes say “Loud brake squeal when in reverse; install pads, hardware and resurface rotors. Cause BRAKE MAINTENANCE NEEDED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT PAD MATERIAL.” Thought the note about insufficient pad material was interesting. This is the 2nd day since the repair and no squeal so far. Hoping it doesn’t return after another few hundred miles but, for now, so happy not to hear that horrible noise.

I appreciate your post. I live in Atlanta. I've had my 2024 LC for 8 months and it now has 6000 miles on it. The squeal happens every single morning when I back out of my driveway. Could you share where the lexus service bullitan is posted that you used to show the technician at Toyota?

Post in thread 'Brakes Squeal' Brakes Squeal

When the &$%! will Toyota come out with an official TSB for this!? This is ridiculous. The two dealers I went to seek help from basically told me to wait it out. Mine has squealed like a pig in reverse since day 1-August, '24

problem is, the bulletin addresses the front brakes and not the rear brakes.
The issue is the front brakes, at least that's where my noise was coming from and what I have read most owner's complaining about. Specifically, sounded like mostly the driver's side.

But, the loud squeal only happens while in reverse. On ours, it started out just being the first time in the morning. After a few weeks it was making the noise almost every time we backed up. And it was very loud.

In my case, it happens every single morning, it also happens if the car has been parked for four hours or more and it does sound like it's coming from the front but even with the windows down it's hard to tell.

Update: I took my LCFE in for 10k maintenance a few weeks ago, dealer was able to replicate the brake squeal, acknowledged this is a known issue but no TSB yet. Regardless, and to their credit, they still replaced the front brake pads and shims and coded it under the <12k brake warranty. I have had ZERO brake squeal in over two weeks and counting…

Have a friend who is a Toyota technician and they replaced everything and took the old parts back for analysis to hopefully help Toyota come up with a fix. He said the parts are all the same so the issue may come back but hopefully they will have a fix down the road. To me, it sounds like different pads may be the ultimate solution unless it’s tied to the parking break not fully releasing until you’ve pumped the breaks a few times.

Does anyone else exerience brakes squeel in reverse? Mine seems to do it mostly after it has sat for a while. I only notice it in reverse.
My left front squeaking loudly in reverse at 1500 miles, no resolution from dealer.... very maddening.... 3rd visit, I'm going to demand a brake rebuild on the noisy wheel, or dump this vehicle.... unacceptable for a brand new high end vehicle. Very discouraging to see all these posts, where the dealers are blowing off the customer complaints, "humidity" etc, etc....

First successful squeal resolution post I've read....

I'm currently at 9,700 miles. The reverse squeal is louder than ever. I'll give this a try at my dealership next week and update everyone on how it goes.

I've never used the parking brake, and mine is squealing loudly, dealer seems perplexed....
