Brakes Squeal

Currently at a Toyota Dealership for the 2nd time for them to look into my squealing brakes and didn't even think to look at this forum! My 2024 250 now has 7k miles and the brakes have been squealing (in reverse) since around 2k miles. The dealership is telling me because of the hybrid, the LC doesn't actually use the brakes under 8mph; however, there is also rust on the rotor pads. They are telling me "there is nothing we can do." 😑
Find. Another. Dealer.

I wanted to give a final conclusion to my experience with the break squeal in reverse.

Lexus did their TSB on my LC FE and since preforming the service, my brakes have been silent.

I spoke with the shop foreman as he took a test drive with me, before and after, he said that he inspected the old and new pads/rotors/shims/etc. and he could not see any differences visually.

He said that in his experience when Toyota/LEXUS (in this case just LEXUS) throws multiple parts at the problem, the engineers either are unsure which individual part is causing the issue or the way the entire system is working together causes the issues, so they replace the entire system.

I asked why Toyota had not released the TSB while LEXUS had and he said that LEXUS will release TSB for annoying issues (because luxury brand) that are not directly related to safety while the Toyota side generally does not. He felt that was very unfair especially for vehicles like the LC which are expensive regardless of the badge, but that is why in his experience

Either way at least for now, the LEXUS TSB has solved the issues as I wrote earlier, my brakes have been silent.

How did you get the Lexus to do the GX TSB on your Toyota LC? Did you pay out of pocket or?

The entire ordeal was a bit of a drama, you can read about on a few different posts here.

Regardless, I reached out to the local Lexus Dealership because the Toyota stores in my area were completely unhelpful.

They were going to try and push the repairs through a Toyota store that they owned (not in my area), but after reaching out to Toyota Corporate, they agreed to internally handle it and cover it under the warranty.

Mine is a 2.8 diesel and it squeals quite a bit in reverse so this issue has nothing to do with yours being a hybrid.

I just had another call with a guy from Toyota Brand Engagement. I'm less than impressed with this person's ability to empathize. I get that this guy deals with disappointed people all day, but I honestly don't think this person is a very good brand ambassador.

This issue may not be a big deal to him, but I'm sure to all of us who've spent a lot of money it is, and that should be enough.

Rant over. Thanks.

Does anyone else exerience brakes squeel in reverse? Mine seems to do it mostly after it has sat for a while. I only notice it in reverse.
HI, Yes! I bought my LC in August of 2024 and it has squeaked since. I brought it into the dealer and they acknowledge the squeaking but say it’s too new and can’t do anything about it. The gave me a TA number to document my visit. I then call Toyota Corporate and they documented my problem. They want me to take it to another dealer. I am scheduled for next week.

They said as the parent company they can’t do anything until a recall is issued. Therefore, I would recommend that if you are having a problem you take the necessary documentation steps at your dealer and with Toyota Corporate to gain traction and bring attention to this problem!

I park my LC in the garage, here in NorCal and haven’t taken it off road. There is no way this squeaking should be happening. Totally frustrated at spending big $$ for a LC and having an immediate problem. My three other 4 runners I’ve never had a problem.

Please call Toyota customer service 1-800-331–4331 to complain about the break noise. Mine have squealed since the day I bought it and I’m at 5000 miles. They told me they won’t fix this or put out an TSB until enough. People complain to them.

We've had our new '25 LCP for 3 weeks and this morning was the first time I noticed that our truck brakes squealed while in backing out of the carport. Didn't love it if I'm honest. Hoping this isn't an indication of a problem but it sounds like this is fairly a widespread and common occurrence among owners so I guess time will tell. Hopefully someone gets resolution or a response from Toyota soon
