Brakes Squeal

Nothing on mine yet. But the GX550 has the same issue, and they already have a fix on service bulletin L-SB-0036-24. It's almost a carbon copy of the one I had on my Tundra which was traded in on my LC.
Is that the same bulletin for the Land Cruiser?

Fresh off the press - A SERVICE BULLETIN has either just come out or is about to come out regarding the 250 LC BREAK SQUEAL!!! I just got a call from the Toyota mothership brand representative asking me if the dealership has been in contact with me yet (I put in a complaint to the mother ship), and that the mothership is going to call me back to make sure the dealer resolves the issue. The rep said that a service bulletin was either just released or is about to come out.
Good to hear. Mine just did it for the first time.

It seems to be related to moisture and temp.

Ours did it until we got into full winter conditions and has since stopped. Only did it when the vehicle was cold, the ambient temp was above freezing, and humid.

brand new LC 250 which squeaks first thing the in the morning backing out of my driveway. None for the day after that

Does anyone else exerience brakes squeel in reverse? Mine seems to do it mostly after it has sat for a while. I only notice it in reverse.
It usually only happens once and in the morning. I figure it’s condensation from sitting overnight. I’ve read on the forum that others are having a chronic issue.

Asked my Service Advisor about it... they said it was pretty standard across Toyota hybrids.. and nothing to worry about. Guess if a service bulletin comes out I will bring it back.
FWIW, its winter here, temps as low as -30c, but stored in an unheated but insulated garage at night. Squeal happens when backing out in the am.

At least forty eleven of us…

My squeal started after about the first 1,000 miles and then has done it every single say since. Like most others, it is only first thing in the morning or after it has sat for awhile. But good lord is it loud! I’ve tried everything that has been mentioned here and nothing worked.

Finally took it in last night to the dealership for the 5,000 mile service and had a printed copy of the Lexus service bulletin as well as a video documenting the noise. Just got a call that they definitely heard the squeal this morning when they pulled it in. They went ahead and replaced the calipers and hardware and resurfaced the rotors, but had to order new pads so I will need to take it back in to have those put on. I was pleasantly surprised with this outcome based on what some others have reported with their dealership. I’ll report back if that solves the issue. I’m sure my neighbors hope so…

My squeal started at around 100 miles or 9 days after purchase. It rained and the vehicle sat in the driveway outside for a day. So it was a cold start, first thing in the morning after it rained. Backing out of the driveway, the vehicle break squeal was there when turning the steering wheel to the left and applying the brake.

The second time it happened, the vehicle sat in the driveway for two days, no rain this time, but it was first thing in the cold morning backing out the driveway.

I took it to the dealer having, both instances captured the loud squeal on my 4k security cameras outside & left it overnight at the dealer for them to replicate.

They were able to and have recommended replacing front brake pads and rotors, including pad shims. They had to order the parts and will call me when everything is in so I can bring it back to resolve

Parts: $571.04
Labor: $215.00
Tax: $41.40
Total approved services: $827.44

At your expense or Toyota Warranty's expense?

Maybe we are finally at a turning point in this fiasco.
I spoke with the Toyota Corporate Rep today working my case and she said that as of yet there is no TSB on the Toyota side and she was surprised by that as generally Toyota and Lexus TSBs are either in unison or close together.

She asked her manager about when a TSB might be released and he had not heard anything yet from the North American Engineering side.

My brakes squeal too. Once a TSB is released and there’s an official engineering approved/proven fix I’ll take it in and get the updated parts. Until then I’m not going to be super concerned about it.

Our beloved 2015 Chevrolet SS had squeaky brakes in reverse too, so this is nothing new. The SS had Brembo brakes, and they made a lot of brake dust, frequent cleaning with brake cleaner and lubricating the slide shoes on the pads was the only thing that could keep it at bay. High performance brakes are just noisy 99% of the time so you live with it.

The LC isn’t a high performance vehicle, so squeaky brakes is not acceptable long term.

My BMW M cars all have Brembo made brake calipers (BMW M branded) and they do not squeal.

I have tried to at least figure out where the squeal is coming from on my LC and I have been unable to pinpoint it.

The Lexus TSB just replaces everything and that seems to solve it, but I cannot imagine that replacing everything is needed, but I am also not an Engineer.

When the factory set of pads and rotors wear out, I will be replacing them with EBC pads and rotors.
