QC hold 5/17/24 in Port

Finally something, just heard parts have arrived at the Benicia port and will soon be installed on all LC250 FEs being held there. I still won't hold my breathe lol

Mine was held at Portland for 2 months and I just got it this week finally. Parts arrived.

Yup, sales guy just called me while I'm vacationing in Paris that my LC FE was just released and at the dealership. Flying back today to pick her up.

Seems like the in transit pipeline in Northern California is drying up or being delayed and there are rumors of QC holds again. I wonder if the threatened port strike caused a distraction or if there are other reasons. Anybody else seeing the same?

I have noticed a very limited supply of LC's available as a whole. There are still incoming 2024's not due until November/December.

Haven't heard anything myself. Mine is still scheduled to come in end of Nov, it'll be one of the last 2024s. Could be typical change over, where is the line that you cut off from year to year, that supply likely bottoms out. Seeing on Toyota FB sites regarding Sienna and 4Runner supplies. Demand > supply.

My '25 was built on the 15th and is scheduled to arrive in port this weekend. Dealer is expecting it could be ready for delivery late next week.

Mine arrived in Portland on 10/9 and is currently under QC hold for unknown reasons.

I am still seeing data points that many of the late October units are being delayed to dealers likely into December. I am sure HQ would want to reduce carrying costs and get them off the balance sheet before the end of the year so expect a push by then.

I am curious as to what the issue could be. It also would not be good to have model 24s still arriving in calendar 2025 and would wonder how they would handle that issue.

Anybody hear anything or seeing any movement?

I wish I was seeing some positive movement. My initial 30 day QC hold was set to end earlier this week, but the update from my dealer now shows the hold extended for another 47 days for Quality Confirmation Activity.

Not sure on the specifics and the dealer didnโ€™t have a good answer either.

I wonder what would cause a vehicle to be held up for 77 days. Since there appears to be many others then that probably eliminates shipping damage.

Perhaps a common manufacturing or assembly defect, waiting in queue, or they ran out of inventory for the port installed accessories?

Mine was a 60 day hold on the FE but that was because they didn't have all the parts for the rack assembly they install at the port. They are also backordered on any rack parts everywhere in the USA.

I wonder if some of the problems that inmates have brought up here on this forum have filtered back to the mother ship, and they have been tracking down the problems on the manufacturing side of things, determined which vehicles are or may be affected, and held them to be remedied before they are released to the dealers for sale to the American consumer.

My thought I watched a video on processing through one of the port facilities. There are thousands and thousands of vehicles that arrive on every single ship, those are parked in the yard and brought into the facility one at a time and parked into a assembly bay. parts are collected for each car and placed in the bay. A assembler starts installing the PIOs, after a QC check, the vehicle is moved to the shipping lanes or the damage repair lanes. If I remember correctly this process could take 20 min to 3 hours depending on the amount of PIOs and the skill level of the installer.

I would surmise that if the facility's inventory of a single PIO is depleted for any certain model, that model would sit in the staging lanes until all of the PIOs are on hand. In the LC/FE's case the fog light would be installed and that part was depleted, the other FE's would sit, then if sunroofs were depleted all, LCs with that option would sit. Even if the FE's fog lights arrived, the FE would sit due to the sunroof shortage and the 1958s would process etc........ I waited a long time for my 1st allocation and ended up purchasing from another dealer who had received their FE.

The facility would continue to process other models while the LCs sit.

I had a similar experience as @EOD Guy . While waiting for my allocated and assigned FE to get through the PIO and/or quality hold process without an end date specified, I ended up purchasing from a different dealer off the lot when another member of this forum passed on it when his wife didnโ€™t like the color during their pickup.

Mine arrived to Portland this past weekend, ETA still shows on track. I have been a bit nervous about those cross bars considering the rumors of delays, fingers crossed for "on time" delivery end of the month (to north of SEA)

I ordered an extra cross bar from the local dealer a month ago and it is still months out with no expected date of delivery. I hope they have the parts for your rig as that was very frustrating waiting two months while my rig was stuck at port.

That was a concern.....I'm suddenly glad I'm switching my Subie's tires to winter tires this weekend. What a ride getting this car has been.
