New from UK

My dealer could well contact me any time to say it’s arrived

He has contacted at what is obviously the last minute over payment and P/X

Finance terms quite amusing they are so different to their 0% EV offer !!

Keep us updated on insurance - I will make contact with Admiral and Toyota and see what if anything can be done

If we can’t get insurance through our own insurance company or broker, then I don’t see why Toyota shouldn’t provide it for free. At least, this should be until they get their act together and get the car onto the insurance database.

As an aside, I have ordered another make’s car for my wife that is a brand new model not expected to hit the UK until November, and guess what, that’s already in the insurance database.

There’s an FE for sale in the UK which shows most of the spec. in the description or associated photos. It seems to closely reflect the spec that I posted a few pages ago.

I have a quote supposedly arriving tomorrow morning from Toyota and I have sold my Range Rover to a mate of a mate so hope this deal goes through !! I could be a pedestrian in a week

Mine didn’t arrive yesterday and no signs of it yet. No progress on insurance either. A case has been lodged with Toyota UK by my dealer and myself.
Hello Flyingtrotter and all in the Uk 🇬🇧 I’m collecting my LC this Saturday any one else?
Hello all in the UK I,ll give news as I find out re the First Edition mud flaps mine has got the normal factory ones on BUT the FE ones are in a box in the boot so don’t let them charge for them re the tow hitch/bar in the US they come as standard not here there’s nothing I’ve ordered one with the electrics to fit myself £621.00 further updates to follow 😊

Thanks Dave. That’s good to know about the FE mudflaps.

Insurers want additional immobiliser - anyone had this requirement on their FE or other vehicles - not on top of this area so not sure what’s best and least likely to mess up the electronics/look ugly

Have you been able to get a quote other than Toyota insurance then?

I was told late today that Toyota haven’t yet got the necessary info to Thatcham to allow them to assess it properly for insurance. Apparently, Toyota say that it should all happen and allow alternative insurance quotes by circa 21st October. This is an internal bulletin which they haven’t yet released to customers, if they ever do that is. As Toyota insurance won’t insure me, I won’t therefore be able to take delivery/register mine until after that date. Unless of course, Toyota UK do the decent thing and provide a week of free insurance until alternative quotes are accepted.

It’s Toyota insurance who have quoted and asked for additional imobiliser

They didn’t require one for me when they initially quoted, albeit later saying that my ncd wasn’t suitable. Maybe it’s an area risk issue for you. An expensive requirement if your previous cars and insurance companies haven’t needed one. Would it be worth waiting until 21st (assuming that is the actual date) for alternative quotes?

I think it’s more likely to be connected with Toyota Insirance being separate from the manufacturer

I was just sent the insurance bulletin by my dealer saying what other reported - work being done to ensure it’s rated and can be covered by other insurers from 21/22Oct - probably delays my collection

It’s still baffling me that you guys are having such headache with this insurance stuff - sorry to hear it

I’m paid up and locked in with Toyota Insurance UK - I spoke to them a few weeks ago, and as mentioned, told them to reach out to the underwriter direct with the car model/details

My insurance kicks in Monday (day of collection) and it’s been very easy from start to finish I must say

I’ve found them to be incredibly helpful at the other end of the line

Below is the make and model on my policy letter, so maybe you can give them the exact same to locate a quote?

All I did was call: 0333 103 9950 and hit option 1

My particular problem with Toyota insurance was due to my ncd on my current vehicle not being acceptable to them, ie they will not allow a commercial vehicle’s ncd to be used. They did initially give me a bespoke quote through their underwriter, before they asked for my ncd proof. They also won’t provide insurance for anyone without any ncd. At first they wouldn’t insure the LC FE because it was too expensive! I wasn’t going to cancel my other private car’s insurance and transfer that ncd over as that would be expensive and the hassle of then getting yet another policy for that car, that’s probably in a higher insurance group than the LC and I’ve currently got a very competitive cover. This is particularly frustrating as my other vehicle insurance company have said that they will give me a mirrored ncd on the LC and my other car of 12yrs, but only once they can see it on the system.

I will also therefore need to await Toyota getting their act together before it can be registered.

Lets hope that Thatcham doesn’t give it a high risk rating requiring us all to need imobilisers, like Flyingtrotter is currently being asked by Toyota insurance.

Yep

They gave me a price over the phone but have only sent me the details of immobilisers - I want the quote confirmed in writing subject to immobiliser fitted and will check the other market options

It’s really quite an irritating process all round

UPDATE - had it confirmed and would have 14 days to fit additional immobiliser
