Brakes Squeal

not only that but the TSB states "Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to reduce the possibility of this condition." so they are pretty much admitting that the repair/replacement may not fix the problem.
The point I was making was, the trucks have the same platform, Lexus has already offered a fix to their owners, and Toyota has done nothing for us, to recognize the problem, and offer a possible fix. It makes me feel like we are second class customers.
 
Over 5500 miles and I haven’t noticed any noise, other than the usual scrapping off of surface rust after driving in wet conditions (which has been sparse in Alabama this fall).

For those that like to occasionally track their Porsches, etc., they often have to weigh the benefits (effectiveness, long life) of track pads on the track vs the cons (including squeal) of the same on the street - ie, noisy brakes aren’t necessarily a problem.

I get what your saying, but you used the word fix. That is no fix. It is to "reduce the possibility", not a fix. I do not want them to waste my time. They can waste Lexus owners time.

Well, I'm not exactly tracking my Land Cruiser on a road circuit, am I. Just trying to back out of the driveway without it sounding like a POS.
 
I had my brakes replaced at the dealership yesterday and so far, the squeal is completely gone. Also, maybe I am just imagining it, but my brakes feel much more responsive. I did not realize how bad it was until I have gotten in my LC several times and it is gone. I found myself cringing every time I put it in reverse in anticipation of the noise. Hopefully it will stay gone. The tech did say they had no idea if this would be a permanent fix but if it did not fix the issue, they would know there is also an issue with the replacement parts. Here is a list of what they replaced:

Outstanding. Was the dealer familiar with the issue and replaced them once you brought it up? I am bringing mine in this week and am going to request the same thing.

They were not, they said the Tundras had a similar issue. I guess I was lucky in that when they got in to inspect it, it squealed very loud so the parts manager and technician were both interested in seeing what the issue was.
 
I'm wondering if the squealing has something to do with the quality of the casting. My LC arrived with a significant amount of rust on the rotor. Like, so much rust I would've guessed the rotor had been on the LC for years! I've never seen a rotor flash rust as fast as these ones do. While washing the LC yesterday I noticed that the front rotor had flash rust on it almost as soon as I began washing the vehicle. While I've seen some flash rust on rotors after washing and drying the car, I've never seen it develop on the still wet rotor. I also noticed a TON of rust on my 20" rims which didn't come off even after using two different wheel cleaners and hand scrubbing them. I think I'll have to use some Iron Remover to get the rims fully clean (I took off my 20" rims and replaced them with 17" wheels.) I have noticed some brake squeal, but it hasn't been excessive on my car at this point. Here's a pic of the rotor from yesterday (none of my other cars have ever been this rusty even after a washing the car.)

The surface rust on the wheels are peculiar and would be a warranty related item for faulty wheels.

The surface rust is normal on the rotors in my experience. I always hand wash my 911 in my garage and the rotors develop surface rust while I’m wetting down the car.

Same here. I used to think that surface rust on rotors was an issue when looking at a new car on the dealer’s lot (ie, as if the car had been in inventory far too long). I later realized how quickly it forms in the presence of moisture (such as when washing my Cayman)

Surface rust after washing my car doesn't surprise me, but compare the difference between the pic of the rotor on my LC while I was washing it (after just a few minutes being wet) to what the rotor looked like on my RDX after being washed (with virtually no sign of rust). I've also added a couple of pics to show the rust on the inside of the rotor which is how the LC arrived. I've never seen a brand new vehicle have that much rust on the rotor, even when it's been shipped from Japan. Maybe others have a different experience? Either way, it's very disappointing that the LC doesn't have any type of rust preventative coating on the part of the rotor that has badly rusted.

2 cents - mine had nothing like that in terms of rust. Looks like saltwater corrosion to me. Maybe your unit was near an open hatch on the ship and picked up some ocean spray?
Mine squeals a little on backing up just on first drive of the day.
