I put down a deposit on an allocation a few weeks ago. Just got the VIN last week - last 4 digits are all numbers.
Today I decided to Google the VIN to see what information was out there. I was surprised to see that at least four dealers - mostly but not entirely dealers in the same ownership...
Intending nothing personal against any certain reviewer. Iām not interested in opinions about the new Land Cruiser or GX from anyone who owns a previous generation GX. Thereās a religious zeal there and those people are not objective.
When one tire is different in diameter than the others it rolls at a different rate. This can drive AWD systems crazy if they recognize that to be wheel slippage and try to reallocate torque accordingly.
As someone said, it might help to unlock the differential. And to begin with Iām not sure...
The roads in and around Denver can be in terrible condition from all the freeze-thaw cycles during the winters. Theyāre actually in better shape on average in locations where it gets cold and stays cold.
Certainly nobody needs differential lockers to drive on potholes. But I actually find it...
When youāre looking at the Apple Maps app on the phone, tap your picture or user avatar next to the āSearch Mapsā input box. Youāll get a menu that includes an āoffline mapsā option. From there itās pretty straightforward.
Iām with you. I have a VIN for a current build. Supposed to deliver in November but it seems like lots of factors point at a delay. So weāll see.
Also LCP Heritage, by the way.
To be fair, CarPlay itself occasionally develops connectivity issues. In 8+ years running it in a Tahoe (wired), Iāve had three or four periods of time mysteriously come along where it would just drop randomly. Then one day it stopped happening just as mysteriously.
Secret Apple software...
I can see people cross-shopping the LC with a new Bronco but I suppose itās actually two different but overlapping markets.
The recommendation to buy a used previous generation GX is just lazy.
Agreed. If I liked the previous generation GX Iād have bought one by now.
As I posted above, Broncos are awesome on paper but when you get in one and drive it around it just feels like it will age quickly. Then you look at the sticker and itās quite a bit more $ than you thought it was.
Not saying that is the only or the definitive ranking. But if you look at this kind of thing you might be surprised to see how near the top Porsche usually shows up.
I donāt know why people assume Porsche reliability is low. Maybe thereās a thought that sports cars are unreliable in general, and there was the IMS issue that was a localized, specific design flaw. Otherwise they are fairly simple, well built vehicles. Perhaps less simple than they once were...
As an alternative, Victory 4x4 has a 3/4 length aftermarket rack with similar coverage to the FE rack. To the naked eye it appears slightly less tall...
Thereās a silly clickbait video on YouTube right now by a guy reviewing his āitās not perfectā experience with a Land Cruiser. I wonāt link to it because I mention it just to point out that your write up is ten times better.
You point out experiences youāve had with the vehicle that a person...
Pretty normal for a brand new design, especially one with this level of initial demand. Theyāre probably running as hard as they can to build new units, surplus capacity for replacements will ramp up sooner or later. It will improve.
Here in Denver, cracked windshields are part of life. I have...
My solution to the depreciation issue is to keep my cars for at least eight years. That way Iām driving them around at salvage value for 2 or 3 years and whatever depreciation hit I took at the beginning averages out.
Versus, for example, a guy who proudly buys used to avoid the initial hit...
Itās safe to assume that in any vehicle with adjustable drive settings, the ānormalā setting is the most conservative they could get away with to maximize their CAFE scores. Sport mode is probably where they intend us to spend our time from a drivability standpoint.
In the 911, Sport mode is...
Exactly. I so wanted to like the Bronco, but at the end of the day I could not get with the sloppiness I saw in the build at the real world price. For example, when you close the door on a LC it makes one noise. When you close the door on a Bronco it makes about six or seven noises. Visibly...
Agree on all counts but would add that Iāve never heard an aftermarket exhaust that didnāt drone. I had an RPI on my BMW E60 545 and wound up adding plugs to it so I could stand the noise during the 95% of the time I was not racing it around. It did sound good at WOT though, for sure.
The...
Nobody has mentioned Nokian Outpost aT tires yet. The brand is intriguing to me as itās synonymous with winter performance. Iām sort of assuming they are AT tires designed to excel in all weather conditions. Also, thatās what the marketing copy says.
This is the issue with snow tires in Denver. It snows here, but aside from once-in-years storms the roads are dry within 36 hours and stay that way. The pack sticks longer up in the mountains but for vehicles that spend most of their time driving around the city Iām not sure the equation works...
On my allocation it showed as the āColorado All Weather Prep Packageā or some such. I said I didnāt want it and the guy tried to tell me it was a factory installed option on all the cars. āEven the ones sold in Florida?ā said I, at which point he conceded the argument.
Itās not a terrible spot...
Excellent post and itās fun how over represented Colorado is on this board.
Mine wonāt arrive until about Thanksgiving but I am keen to explore the engine braking (please, not ābreakingā which means something entirely different) situation. My commute between our homes is Castle Rock to Avon...
