I'm having a tough time deciding whether to go with the Land Cruiser "Land Cruiser" with the premium package or without.

So first disclaimer, I have two deposits down at two different dealers far away from each other on the east coast. Both are LC Mid-Tier Trims in Heritage Blue but have different interior/exterior differences as shown below:

1st Deposit: w/ Premium Package - Heritage Blue & Java Brown Leather Interior

Port/Factory Options
20-inch Alloy Wheels - $1,240
Premium Package - $4,600
Special Color - $350
Door Edge Film - $95
Connected Service 3 years - $325
Roof Crossbars - $560

Dealer is offering MSRP price + $599 processing fee for $70,980 (not including tax/title)

ETA: 56 Day Hold - Unknown / Maybe July 12-19th?

2nd Deposit: w/o Premium Package - Heritage Blue & Black Softex Interior

Port/Factory Options
Illuminated Door Sills - $469
All Weather Cargo Mat - $229
Paint Protection (Hood/Mirrors/All Doors) - $800
TOYOGUARD Extented Maintenance Plan (after ToyotaCare) - $699

Dealer is offering MSRP price + $825 Window Tint/Interior Spray + $699 processing fee for $67,433 (not including tax/title)

ETA: No QC Hold - July 2nd (confirmed, getting on truck this week)

As it stands, I'd be saving $3,547 with current negotiated terms. However, if I were to go with the cheaper non-premium model, I would do some last minute negotiations with the dealer, get them to drop the $825 window tint crap, and swap the TOYOGuard BS for $600 crossbars instead (seems like a fair thing for a in-demand new truck), so my price target would then be $66,508 before tax/fees or a $4,472 difference.

The big difference right now between the two is one is on a QC Hold, and one is not because the Non-Premium model doesn't have a sunroof. As someone who's been waiting 3 months already since putting my initial deposit down, this is tempting.

They're both identical outside except the wheels. I prefer the 18-inch wheels over the 20 inch, so that's saving me at least another 1k if I were go find some others and swap them. Interior wise, the biggest difference with the cheaper LC is no Java Brown Leather (which I really want), no traffic jam assist (would be nice/not a deal breaker), no sunroof (meh), and no 14 speaker JBL system (would be cool). The rest of the premium package is just fluff to me that I don't care about.

I keep asking myself if I want to save some money, lose out on the brown interior, and get an LC sooner. I should also note the LC w/ premium package requires a one-way flight for pickup where as the LC w/o premium is somewhat local and drivable. Basically another cost savings with the LC no premium.

I decided the premium package was not worth it to me, so I specifically requested non-premium LC trim. I wouldn’t mind the upgraded audio but that’s about it.

But I’m not you, and it sounds like you want the premium!

Java Brown Leather (which I really want)

YOLO get the premium!

Considering it’s an audio upgrade, leather, sunroof, illuminated running boards, digital key, digital rear view mirror, HUD… I’d pretty happily pay an extra 3 or 4 grand for that. Probably more. You’ll get 2-3 grand of it back someday when you sell 😅

Should I decide on an LC, I’d definitely go premium. Particularly if you like & want the java brown. The extra cost amortized over the life of the vehicle is small & as someone pointed out above, you’ll get it back at resale time. Assuming of course you’re not maxed out going LC over 1958 already to begin with.

I agree with Nuke that you should go for it. But FWIW in your negotiation, I regularly check the inventory in a 50 mile radius and that covers a LOT of Toyota dealers.

I've only ever seen one LC trim without the Premium package and they seemed to be having trouble getting rid of it.

Where did you see it? I want an LC without the Premium package (or sunroof, or stupid 20" wheels) and have yet to see one...

I think 4600 is worth it for leather sunroof and the JBL system.

It's still in transit. It's at Antwerpen Toyota which I think is in Clarksville, MD. They were doing $5k to $8k market adjustments but no more.

Premium Pkg for sure. HUD, JBL, Full Leather, SNRF, wireless charging....actually not one option I wouldn't want. Not a wild price.

Literally the only one of those that interests me is wireless charging, and I'm pretty sure I can add that for a lot less than $4000. I never use sunroofs and would rather have headroom and no risk of leaks. Startex is fine. I'd rather have storage than a coolbox. HUD is useless frippery. JBL I'd pay something for I guess but given that I've already lost a lot of high frequency hearing I probably couldn't hear the difference.

Get what you really want, with the Premium package, you will not be sorry later... Speaking from 60+ years of experience. (Yes, I am that old!)
Eat dessert first is a good rule.

I just saw that the premium has a cooled middle compartment. However it seemed quite small. How is storage in the LC? I would use the cooled storage maybe 5 times a year so losing a lot of storage because it's small makes little sense. Also, how cold does it actually get?

It gets pretty damn cold. I'd guess the cans I pull out of it are right around 40°F, I use it all the time, just keep a 6 pack of sparkling water in it and I'm always refreshed while driving. But it has been in the 90s here on the western slope of Colorado lately, not sure what temps you're dealing with.

Storage is almost non-existent.......... Cool Box and the pockets in the doors, there is an area for the cordless charger, but that's it.

Wish it had the multiple-tier door pockets like the ID Buzz. I'd actually prefer to store more things out of sight but convenient in the doors and keep the dash and center console clean

We struggled with the same decision and spent a lot of time thinking through each option. Many of the other extras with the “premium package” we have on other cars and i like them a lot. But the deal breaker for me was the cooler. I did not want to sacrifice critical storage for something that only cools four drinks. If i need a cooler i bring a cooler. In the winter it would have no value. I have seen others on this forum exploring how to remove it. Our sales guy said that is not something they can do. So we are happily picking up our LC we ordered w/o premium this week. Meteor shower…
