There was a thread back in the summer about this, but it did not have that much information:

Folks who live in snowy climates, what, if anything, are you using for underbody coatings? I just got my LC a couple of weeks ago, so not sure it's really necessary to treat it right away, but I'm weighing my options.

There are some local shops that do Waxoly, but I've heard that it's kind of a dated product with better new alternatives? I've also heard of folks doing Woolwax. I guess I kind of like the one-and-done situation with Waxoly, versus having to do annul treatments of Woolwax.

Thanks!

I have done Waxoyl on previous vehicles and its not a one and done, it still needs yearly touch ups on high wear areas. I have since switched to Woolwax and am happy with the results. Both products will attract dirt but that adds to the protective layer, but waxoyl seemed to harden more over time which I did not want. Bottom line living in the NE something is better then not.

We are not in the rustbelt but I used fluid film and am very happy with it. It does have the lanolin smell for a day or two and is tacky until you get it dust covered, but it looks to be very effective and was easy to apply. I did targeted underbody, frame, and driveline rather than interior of body panels. I think I would have been happy with Waxoyl as well
