Heated Seats issue: Updated**

Does anyone have issues with the heated seats? Mine don’t feel very warm at all. I know it’s summer but we loved our heated seats to keep our back warm early in the morning or on road trip. Planning to bring into a local dealership to have it check.

Updated: Brought my LC to local Toyota dealership. Service guy told me they have to order the ac controller board because it show that there was limited voltage. The part has been ordered but it’s on backorder.
Could you update us as fo whether this works? My dealer said it was “operating as designed” in a passive aggressive tone

I seem to have the same issue with my heated seats. I purchased a 1958 with dealer installed leather seats (Katzkin leather). The seats look factory and I am happy with them ...except that the heated seats are emitting pitifully faint heat, even on full blast.

I am not sure if this is because:

A) the Toyota heating elements are weak (which would imply all Land Cruisers are effected)
B) the Katzkin leather is not perforated and may be thicker than OEM which could be causing the issue
C) I can't feel the heat because the ambient temperature is too high (its summer here in PA).

I fear the dealer may simply shrug this off. I invite others to weigh in.
I also got the dealer installed Katzkin leather! I love it. But I do wonder about whether my heated seats aren't as warm because of it. I can't really compare with when they were cloth because I got the leather done almost right away. They do warm, just not as hot as other vehicles I've driven with it. The heated steering wheel gets nice and toasty though.

The heated seats work fine. The cooled seats, not so much. I also have a Bronco. You could fry an egg on those seats, but the steering wheel heat is almost none existent. The LC wheel heat works great.

I have a FE and my heated seats get nice and toasty.

Ditto my steering wheel, it gets nice and toasty, maybe not as toasty as any of my BMWs, but warm enough.

Some cars have a feature in the heated seats where they automatically decrease or shut off after a set number of minutes. To keep it really hot, you have to re-initiate the max level.

I wonder if the LC does the same thing?

I did a long road trip yesterday and think it may be an issue of slow to heat vs heat temp. Over the course of the drive, I had to turn the seat heat down and turn the steering wheel heat off. On short drives, I find it inadequate, on a long drive yesterday definitely did the job.

I agree.

Well....my heated seats and wheel works but compared to my 2021 F-350 they are inferior. My wheel and the seats in my Ford get HOT. The LC gets warm. Hasn't been an issue yet here in December in New Hampshire but ask me again mid February.

Not for nothing, but with a forscan, you can change the Bronco steering wheel temp….just saying.

My experience too.

I didn't even think of it might be adjustable.......... might have to hook up my autel and see if there are any parameters.
I poked around my Launch X431Pro and I didn't see any function to change the level of heat, but I find that each scan tool is a bit different and some can do one thing and others can do another thing.

It seems that most of the recent comments from owners who are satisfied with the seat heat output are from owners of the 1958 Edition, which has cloth seats. (There is a comment from a 1958 owner who has very little heat, though.) And most of the commenters having poor seat heat output seem to have either Softex or perforated leather seats. There are a bunch of commenters who didn't mention which LC model they have, though.

Just trying to see if there is a discernible pattern to mention to Toyota or a dealer. Not there yet though. What is clear to me is that Toyota's seat heating implementation is a lot better on the RX than on the LC, at least when using the LC's ECO drive mode. And, this is possibly also true of the seat cooling, but I need to check that further.

Any more comments on this are appreciated...........just be sure to mention your LC model and drive mode.
Hi,
I have LC250 FE with the perforated leather seats. I have noticed that my seat heaters even on the highest setting do not get very warm. I am speaking from experience because my dad owns a brand new tundra with perforated leather seats and I have to turn it down after a few minutes when having the seat heaters on the highest setting. It is getting pretty cold up here in Maine so it is great amenities to have if it worked properly....I am going to mention it to my dealership once I am up for my 5k service.

Overall, mine is weak as well on LC with leather compared to my other vehicles. It randomly does heat up sometimes. Perhaps it is my imagination, but it appears to get warmer if only the driver seat is on or if I turn it off and then back on again. I also observed the phenomenon mentioned before about the Eco vs Sport mode.

Makes me wonder if it's a power draw thing related to the hybrid battery design. I don't know but regardless my heated seats in my F-350 as well as heated steering wheel is HOT🔥 compared to these. I also think it's a joke that there are no heated seats for the second row. I thought the Land Cruiser was a luxury vehicle. I get it's more off road focused but not having heated seats for my kids is kind of a joke considering how much I paid for the vehicle. It's 18 degrees Fahrenheit today where I live. Heated second row seats should be essential in a luxury car IMO.

I live where it's COLD, SNOWY, ICY winter for what feels like 11 months of the year, and I find my heated seats are fine. I typically shut them off, or put on low within 10 minutes in the vehicle.

Plus, if the heat's too hot, you can get hemorrhoids. ;)
