GX550 fuel tank in a Land Cruiser

Looks generally doable but probably need more than just the tank and maybe fuel lines. Also side guardss and different hanger by the looks of it. Otherwise pretty similar. Fingers crossed.
Not sure if the side pieces will swap, but I'm pretty sure Eric ordered everything that might be needed as I'm 6 hours away from his shop.

The skid plate is also way better on the GX, providing full coverage vs the half skid on the LC. Why Toyota chose to install a half skid is unimaginable.

My bet is in the side plates being required give the different shape of the tank, number of mounting holes, and location of mounting holes being different.

Update, I received a text from Eric (Ed Martin Toyota) All the parts have arrived. With the holidays, it'll be after the new year before I can get up to his shop and do the tank swap. Fingers crossed I don't need all the extra parts. It's getting spendy!

What’s worst case bill for parts, alone?

The 2025 Land Cruiser is built on the TNGA-F global truck platform that is shared with Tundra, Sequoia. That being the case, I hope that a larger tank from the 2025 Tundra or Sequoia might fit our 2024 Land Cruisers.
That 22.5 Tundra/Sequoia tank would be nice option. An extra 4-5 gallons / 50-100 miles between fill ups. Somehow they squeezed an extra gallon (19) into the 2025 4Runner.

can't wait - this is likely to be the first mod to my 250 if its not awfully expensive
I don't have the final number yet but the fuel tank alone is $1100 and I think I'll have to pay for the support brackets (no price on those yet). I'm paying to have them install it, but this seems like a very DIY mod. If someone else had already done this and proved it would fit, I would have done the install in my driveway..........

lead the way brother!
im in the same boat as you

I wonder how the fuel gauge and range estimation will react to the larger tank. Thoughts?
I'm of the belief a 1/4 tank is 1/4 tank. In a stock tank that would equal 5 gals (I know it's less than that) and the new tank that would equal 6 gals. The range is an unknown for me and am not sure if it's auto calibrated or could be calibrated. But after a couple of fill ups, I'll have a good idea when it's on "E" how much fuel is left in the tank.
