That is a very handy option and very well thought out for the Land Cruiser.
Thank you for the instructions on how to find it. I likely would never have figured out where the button resides.
My '22 4Runner leaks water excessively as well. It's normal and a good thing. Toyota has routed the water away from the vehicle like downspouts on your house.
Jeep Cherokees of old had rain gutters on them which never drained. As a result, everything except the tires and the windshield...
The new Land Cruiser is in a class of its own. Significantly better looking, performing, built, driving than the others.
The LC looks like it stopped in to give a gentlemanly hello to the less polished and disheveled crowd and then moved on to its proper group.
If anyone is interested in putting Porsche 911 frunk hood struts on their Landcruiser, I can get the part no. for you. It may take a few modifications, however, I believe it is worth the effort.
I know EOD has expressed an interest in doing this and I know he loves all conversations about...
More efficient hybrids are the wave of the future and Toyota is the manufacturer to do it properly.
In a few years, those over-sized engines with poor performance specs will be undesirable dinosaurs. Think back to the 1970's when V8s the size of your house were only pushing out 135-150 hp...
Those are outstanding numbers.
Coming from a 5th Generation 4R getting 10 mpg in the City and maybe 16-18 on the highway, I will be more than happy with those digits.
I know this is a hood closing thread that I hijacked and turned it into a Porsche 911 discussion. My apologies to the OP.
I will say, Porsche handled the IMS issue very eloquently and stood behind their product. We had 911 owners in our Porsche Club - Midwest Region who were way out of...
Completely agree on BMW's poor reliability. I don't buy BMW's any longer.
Porsche 911 with the Flat 6 Boxer engine is absolutely bulletproof. They had an IMS / bearing issue in 2005-2006 on the 997 with the 3.4 (one of which I owned), which was corrected.
My Porsche 911's have been the...
This is true. The Porsche manual recommends only pressing on the crest to close the frunk.
The 911 is quite low to the ground. The Landcruiser, on the other hand, is very high in the air.
The only oil I physically check on any machine I own is my Toro lawn mower....maybe once a year. And I don't even mow my own lawn.
Porsche 911's haven't had a dipstick for years. You just turn the key one click and it automatically measures the level with a graph. BMW has been without...
Sounds like a lot of jury rigging for not much gain. The GX hood may even be a hair longer than the Landcruiser's. I think I'd use the hood prop the two times a year I may open my hood to refill windshield washing fluid. (y)
The 5th Generation 4Runner and the previous generation Landcruiser got around 00.00 mpg to 11.5 mpg whether you were driving in the City, on the highway, or it was parked in the garage.
Always close the hood like the frunk on a 911. Set it down gently to the first "click." Then press it down gently and firmly with an open palmed hand. Wipe handprints clean from said hood.
It is strongly recommended one wears athletic tennis shoes with a lug grip for balance and support.
I recall a member who does badge overlays for the Landcruiser and Toyota badges.
I cannot find the thread where he was showing what he does.
Does anyone recall who he was by chance?
Thanks. Tom
Thanks for posting my thread, Sportsman.
That is likely the case with these three used LC's as well. Dealers are trying to hit numbers so they sell them to their own dealership and mark them as sold. I presume the dealership gets a bonus or the right for more Toyota allocation once they hit...
I’m just the opposite. I don’t like the Lexus nameplate and it reminds me of perfumed up cackling real estate agents who lease them.
I like the understated Toyota Landcruiser marque.
Plus, in my opinion, a sharper vehicle.
I am glad they remain somewhat exclusive and not at every stoplight.
That's the thing about a 4R. Great vehicles and I love them, however, you almost have to have a name tag on your 4R in a large parking lot to ensure you don't get in the wrong one.
Absolutely on both counts. The PSE on my 911 is awesome. I wouldn't own a 911 without that factory option.
Agree as well on the Landcruiser v. GX. The GX is fine, however, the LC is better looking both inside and out. And at the end of the day.....it's a Landcruiser. Enough said.
I’ve always liked the sound of a turbo engine spooling up. Sounds powerful. Always reminds me of the old Lotus Espirit days.
Re exhaust, I personally don’t like loud exhaust on an upscale SUV. Quiet exhaust is fine for me in a Landcruiser.
On my 911, I have factory sport exhaust where I can...
I came across this a couple of years ago when I was looking for new 4R Limiteds. The dealer would sell the 4Runner to their dealership, title it, and then
put in on the market as a used truck with very few, if any, miles.
I know they do this to hit their sales numbers and get a dealership...
I have heard all of the employees at the Hino plant were recruited from Renault, Chrysler, and Fiat plants. They are excited as they don't hold the same high quality control standards as their last plants and they have beer kegs on the floor to encourage comradery among co-workers......:p:p
I like Savagegeese and his Patagonia jacket-wearing cohort. However, I questioned his car knowledge when he purchased a used Volvo XC90 R-Design, spent a crazy amount on ceramic coating, and was completely surprised when it turned out to be the most unreliable and troublesome vehicle he'd ever...
