Yes, purgatory sucks. My black FE has been in port since April 24th.

I went golfing yesterday and there was a black FE in the parking lot. I was so freaking happy just to see one in person!!! Size it up etc. They look great. They look really solid in person.

My curiosity got the best of me and I drove down to the port, here in Portland. Unfortunately there are tons of LC’s sitting there. Noticed most of them were FE’s and didn’t have the rack on them yet.
Couldn’t get close enough to check any VINs…

Wow, I didn't know you could get that close. I was planning on going down there and trying to get a view from the bridge near there with a telephoto lens.

Heck, with the drone keep bonking the guy idling the inspection until he gets to your vehicle or tape 1/2 of a torn hundred dollar bill in half with a note saying if this vehicle gets what ever is needed next, the other h;f of the hi do will be flown in.

Do you guys think that LC's just now leaving Japan would have the QC issue fixed vs the early ones that are sitting at port?

Mine was built on 5/15, FE waiting to be loaded on a ship in early June. Dealer said it’s not in the QC hold

Mine was allegedly on the boat 5/10 so due in soon or already. Just found out it is delayed indefinitely for a QC problem. Salesperson doesn't seem to know anything more than I do and I believe him.

Anyone know more about the QC issue?

I'm hoping for mid June. Original window for me was 05/23-06/08. I think it's just sitting in Newark now.

I just spoke with a GM at a very large Toyota dealership this afternoon. I have been doing Business with them for over 20 years. He told me that Toyota will not release any details about the QC hold. So, if anyone says they know what it is, they are incorrect. Those were his words. It is a bit of a debacle that this is happening with a Flagship Toyota product. Pretty darn embarrassing. I am sure that heads will roll. If mine comes by late July, I will be happy. It landed in Portland the 5th of April. At least I get to keep my $80K in the bank until it arrives.

That's a great bit of info and probably the proper perspective! Think of what bad PR a recall would be ... so this allows them to quietly take care of whatever this is that they've found and keep it under wraps.
Here's hoping is nothing major! Perhaps the ones that have already been sold will give us a little insight if they get recalled?

Actually, I neglected to mention that this Toyota GM also stated that there will likely be a recall coming. Yikes. I guess we just keep waiting and some day, we will know the full story.

That wouldn't be the reason they are on hold , PDC is usually a supplier part that has had an issue and wasn't caught until lots of cars have been built . Now they have to travel to all the ports and confirm each car before it moves on . Portland yard installs lots of parts on tons of cars daily as long as its not a parts shortage (Jackson FL Port does the same ) .

That's why I cancelled the original black one and got the Meteor Shower. I will be travelling until then and no point in paying for it to sit in a parking lot.

Tried to get on reservation list and place a deposit and was told the LC already allocated will be honored otherwise “first come first serve” for any new ones due to quality hold.

My dealer told me a while back there was only one guy doing the roof rack installs at the Portland yard.. hopefully not the case as that would be a lot of trucks waiting on him - after the QC hold.

Sunroof issue makes sense as they would need to inspect each one. No recalls yet per the owners portal so we’ll see.

Others within about 250 miles of me that had similar delivery estimates now all have that same status on the Toyota website. There are some with dates further out (like July delivery estimates) that still show an actual date, so it wasn't an automatic update for all LCs in the system.

I'm seeing the same thing in my area. Those due in late June/early July (i.e. already on a boat or in port) are delayed without a specific date. Those due later in July (i.e. not yet completely built or on a boat) have not been updated.
