17.9 gallon tank for the Land Cruiser. 21 gallon for the GX. Most likely due to the hybrid battery setup. My guess is the the future Hybrid version of the GX will also have to go with the smaller gas tank. That being said, the LC should still have more range than the twin turbo V6 GX. The GX also has higher cargo capacity with the lower cargo floor without the battery.

Exactly so. Range is all that matters. Land Cruiser has a theoretical highway range of 412 miles. GX550’s is 441.

OTOH, for trail work (which more closely approximates city MPG in my experience), you’re looking at 357 for the GX and 393 for the LC.

Final analysis: there’s not much difference between the two in the real world.
