Quality Control Delays!!

I’ve got deposits at two different dealerships, in two different states for Heritage Blue, Land Cruiser trim level, premium package with 20” wheels.

Got a call from both dealerships stating my VIN was “randomly” selected for quality control.

Coincidence? I will not be playing the lottery today…

My LC premium package was released from QC hold and is supposed to arrive at the dealership this week (Seattle area)!

Excited but nervous about dropping $75k (after taxes etc) on something that might not be as reliable as historical Toyotas.
I believe it will be reliable. Toyota isn’t known for producing junk. The engine has been out for a bit without any hiccups. If a problem does arise Toyota takes care of it.

Yeah with the recent stories going on with toyota I am in the same boat. But I am taking the plunge hoping and thinking Toyota will back their product and positive thinking that LC is bullet proof as usual. Time will tell.

Flew down to LAX on Sunday morning. Had my son pick me up. Drove to nearby Toyota dealership and picked up my LC Premium Package. Trail Dust/Grayscape (but I'm calling it Dijon after the french mustard). Drove it 348 miles back to Santa Cruz without a hiccup. That thing scoots. And it really scoots going uphill. Beautiful vehicle, inside and out. 20" wheel and tire shown for those of you asking about how they look. Didn't ask for them but I did get the dash cam I wanted. Micah at Manhattan Beach Toyota was my salesman and was great. He and Carlos the sales manager made it happen for me after being on 3 other waiting lists since February. I'm jazzed.

Got my TD a couple days ago. The color in dusk is so great. Kind of looks like wet beach sand.

I was asking about them - thanks
I believe I’ve got a dash cam also, is it on drivers side ? Does it block views

20” don’t look too bad. I’m expecting my LC Premium with the 20s in the next couple weeks and I may just add some snow rated AT tires and rock those till next spring while I decide on an 18” wheel tire setup.

Driver's side of rear view mirror. Not in the way at all. Haven't set it up yet. Reading the owners manual soon to set it up.

It would be interesting to know if it is only one of the two production facilities, Hino or Tahara.

In the VIN, RK=Hino, R5=Tahara.
I have a LC FE on its way, supposedly in transit, estimated delivery 7/17 to 7/22. But it has RK in the VIN… I thought all the FE’s were made in the Tahara plant (R5).. When I plugged the VIN into the NHTSA VIN search, it said that there was an error in my VIN, in the “K” position. The VIN was given to me by the dealer. 🤔

Lots of FEs are also made at Hino

Thanks.. I didn’t know that. One of the guys on YouTube, David on the ‘Automotive Engineer’ channel, said in one of his many videos, that the FE’s were made at the Tahara plant, along side with the GX’s, and the others were built elsewhere. But I still wonder why the NHTSA website said that there was an error in my VIN number?

Error Text: 4 - VIN corrected, error in one position only (indicated by ! in Suggested VIN), multiple matches found; 14 - Unable to provide information for some of the characters in the VIN, based on the manufacturer submission.

Like all of you here, I've been watching for arrival window updates on Toyota.com and my dealer's website.

Today, my vehicle "disappeared" from inventory and from my saved vehicles. I have a deposit and did all the financing paperwork with this dealership.

I'm hoping the dealer has pulled the vehicle down as it's been "pre-sold" to me (their language, and not my assumption).

Anyone have prior experience I can draw upon?

Mine had disappeared for a few days and then showed back up without changing any kind of status. Never got a real explanation on it other than my salesman telling me everything was still good on their end.

My Land Cruiser is showing up on my dealer's website with an ETA of July 29th, yet my dealer informed me a few days ago that the ETA is July 10th. 🤷 Not sure what to believe...

My dealer pulled mine off Toyota and their dealer site immediately after my deposit was out down (May). It’s been kind of annoying to have zero insight without making a phone call.
