Tire Upgrade ?

As a retired bean counter, I can’t recall a single occasion when I decided what would be included / deleted from a product.
We engineers need bean counters to keep us in check ... but as an engineer I understand that car designers include features (e.g. front air dams, etc) that balance aerodynamic lift and holddown forces. And i thank God for that when passing between two semi trucks while doing 80 mph on a freeway.

Neither bean counters, engineers or designers make the ultimate decision. We each provide input based on our perspective / specialty and then an owner / chief executive decides.
 
Im too lazy to read this whole thread, but getting Westcot lift today and want to put 285 70 18's on my KMC wheels that have plus 18 offset. Anyone think this will rub or ?? Looking at KO3's

Just dropped off with Scott at Go Big. They have lifted several of my jeeps in the past. Ill post some pics after I try to put 285s on it. LOL
 
Westcot lift, 265/70/18 WP AT4s, KMC wheels with plus 18 offset. Will be going to 285's this week now.

That looks really good. The wheels look larger in your photos above, but you're saying they are still stock 265/70/18? If so I guess the lift just makes them appear larger. And maybe the 18 offset too.

Please let us know how the driving is on the Westcott lift. Really want to hear your feedback on and off-road.
 
The wheels are bigger than stock. The Falkens run big. The drive home was great. Still feels soft and not bouncy at all. Im super happy with this lift. Its very noticeable driving that you are riding higher. This was a perfect investment. Impressed with the Westcot lift so far

today, I can tell it rides slightly stiffer, but like others have said, I think the stock ride was a little too plush, so now it feels more sporty ever so slightly....

Anyone know why the Falkens are so damned heavy?
The 285/70r18 C load AT4Ws are heavier than the E load BFG KO3s in the same size.

Sorry to bear bad news. But 0% chance a 285 doesnt rub with a +18 offset. The more negative offset is the killer here. Stock offset it would fit.

Thank you for your feedback on the Westcott. I am thinking of going with it too. It is not that expensive, will probably be great, and if not can always change later to new shocks if I wanted to.
 
you think having the lift will help this?
if you took the mudflaps and air dams off and did a significant lift it might fit, but you have to think of offset like a ball on a string where the string is the axel and the ball is the tire (not a perfect analogy but you get the point). The longer the distance between where the string attaches to the car and the ball (less offset) when the ball is swung forward or backward it is more likely to hit something. The LC sweet spot is about +40 mm offset to fit up to 34-35 inch tires. A lift will help with vertical movement, but turning it won’t affect much until you get into the 3-5 inch lift range.
