Tire Upgrade ?

The Nitto Terra Grappler G3 at 275/70/18 seems like an excellent choice based on size, SL rating, weight, performance, etc.
I am new to the all-terrain tire world. What is the overall perception of Nitto and the Terra Grappler specifically ? Most of the reviews are puff pieces at this point.
I'm interested in these as well, but I'd really like to see some real world reviews...

Did you see much loss at all MPG wise? The look is great and the weight is close so I figure the loss may be negligible hopefully. I always try to find close to stock weight AT tires. The LTs are just too heavy and you feel it daily driving plus the mileage hit. I tried some LTs on my GX460 and swapped the next day to Toyo AT SL stock size. Your pics look great, these appear to be a great option for slightly larger tires.
I haven’t driven enough to notice any MPG difference. I was getting 19.2 mpg before changing the tires (mixed city/highway to/from work) and will report back once I put more miles in.

Hi - where is everyone selling their stock tires to sell (after upgrading) and what is everyone getting for them?

I'm trying to sell 5 of the stock Michelin Defender LTX's 265/70/R18 and have never sold tires before :)

I was thinking of the doing the same and checked with several tire places where I live. None of them interested in the tires - Nitto Grapplers at that. They told me Facebook marketplace was the best way to do it.

I sold my set of 5 with ~130mi on FB marketplace. Listed at $400, sold for $300. I was happy to get rid of them since they took up a lot of space in the garage.

Down load the APP speedometer on your phone to check MPH. I use it on my EBike.

I’m so close to jumping on these at the price point!! Can’t find any pics of them on vehicles since they are so new. Have to find some black lugs to boot - Not sure if they take the 6 lug / 14x1.5….

So I've decided to put the 285/65r18 SL AT4Ws back on with the TRD +45 offset wheels. I thought it looked to squat at first so I put the OEM setup back on but the E load tire was a bit to stiff for my liking. I would love to have 285/70r18s but the weight is not going to work for me as I can only find E load tires in that size. This tire is 5 lbs lighter than the 265/70r18 E load. Since I've already bought them I'm just going to roll with them.

They look great !

Lots of good info on this thread; thought I'd add my new setup on the ol' 250, specs below.

Stock, the ride was really plush and felt a little floaty at times and the understeer was a bit much but expected on mountain roads. The tires with the Westcott lift have firmed things up a bit and I'm really liking how it handles on the highway and in the mountains on curvy roads. The Westcott collar lift will do until next spring when I add a full suspension kit before a trip I have planned to Moab with some friends. Can't wait to get this thing out there!!

I didn't know they had 3 ply sidewalls. I wonder if all of them have that or just the E load? I'll have to do some digging.

Update: I can't find 3 ply sidewalls listed as a spec for this tire anywhere, with is normal for tires that are 2 ply or a different number of plies depending on size/load rating/etc. Nitto does have other tires they list as 3 ply sidewalls for all sizes. Probably then only certain sizes or load ratings are three ply and the lighter ones are two.

Do you get any road/wind noise with the roof rack? Thanks!

Once you get above about ~60mph the wind noise is louder than what I heard with the stock roof rails (no cross bars) but it's not bad at all IMO and even with really low podcast volume on the radio it goes largely unnoticed. I will say it does get annoyingly loud (to me) once you get above 80mph (my brother said he thought it was fine). I rarely get up to that speed and only noticed it when I was testing speeds after having it installed.
