Lift & leveling kit options

24.25" in front, and 24.50" in the back.

Really hoping I'll be able to find a true suspension lift to do 1.5" in the front and about 1" in the rear. Dobinsons has a spring that should swap into the rear and handle additional load, but I've not seen any coilers that have a spring for less than 2" in front.

Thanks for contributing! And what is your lift?
Dobinsons 2.5โ€ front and 2.75โ€ HD in rear. Iโ€™m running Dirtcom tire carrier and ADGU drawers and full complement of gear.

Dobinsons has adjustable collars. You can make it pretty much want you want up to 3โ€.

I know I can adjust the collar, but if I'm doing that I may as well just do a preload spacer. Would rather find the right spring to do an inch with full range of shock motion. I know adjusted preload is better than a preload spacer, it's a pretty hefty price for new coilovers for just 1"

Thatโ€™s how coilover lifts work. They engineer the strut to handle a certain lift and you adjust the collar within those ranges. 1-2.5 or 2.5-3 in Dobinsons case.

The spring is engineered to either replicate stock within those ranges or heavier or lighter etc.

Have Ohlins on my Defender that have a range of 2.5-4โ€. Its all in the strut travel and how heavy or soft you want the spring.

Would you mind sharing a pic of your rig so I can see what the 2 extra inches look like in comparison? My plan has been to wait a couple of years and drive on 34s and eventually go Dobinson 2โ€ to clear 35s. With past rigs, I have become very cognizant of only lifting the vehicle, the minimum amount to clear the tires that I want to run to avoid high COG and CV problems.

21-3/4โ€ rear and 21-1/4โ€ front stock with Iโ€™m guessing 100# of platform, recovery gear, etc in back. Looking for a 2โ€ suspension/spring lift front and back. Looks like Icon and Dobinsons has this. Need a good and reasonable shop in Colorado Springs to install it.

Canโ€™t speak for Colo Springs, but RSG in Denver is good. STAY AWAY FROM TOYTEC

Radflo's coilovers can go down to 0" lift if you want.

Is anyone running the Radflo kit? Any comments on how it compares to the Kings or Icons. I have seen some stuff on here showing people testing out an Ebiach lift, is this a full coil over replacement?

I'm trying to keep a pretty mild build, but do tow and want to gain a little ground clearance so I'm thinking:
  • IMS59-60660 struts, with the stock spring and set the seat for 1" of lift
  • C59-883V springs in the rear, with the stock strut for .4" of lift
My only concern with this would be if weight while towing would result in a negative rake.

Probably a valid concern. The factory springs are soft.

Just wanted to share photos of my land cruiser after installing the rough country 1" leveling kit. Before the install, my front was about .75" lower than the back, and I got nearly an inch from the rough country kit. I also have 1" wheel spacers to push the tires out to inline with the fenders. I do not think that the ride quality was affected at all.

I have 275/60/20 Atturo ATS tires on order and will post a picture once they are on. I plan to keep the stock rims.

The kit was fairly easy to install, it took me about 2 hours total by my self. Just in case anyone is wondering, the spacers are high density plastic, not steel or aluminum.

Here it is leveled with the Arturo tires on stock rims.

This company posted that they have a 1.5" spring kit coming to accomodate increased weight from "overlanding" builds. This is what I'm going to end up going with as I don't want to lift much from stock, but also recognize that bumpers/bits add weight. I messaged them to ask when they anticipate making it available.
Just heard from them as I was typing it up, they're available now.

Here's the LC they posted with the kit. You can go to their facebook and find the post from 1/21.
