Is your fuel efficiency affected too?

So, I’ve been averaging between 16-18mpg on the freeway since I got my LC about 2 weeks ago and I haven’t been driving with a heavy foot or even go faster than 70-75mph.

I’m not sure if it’s the lift kit, tires/rims, and roof rack, but should that even affect the fuel economy that much? Especially considering this is an inline 4cyl turbo hybrid, it’s pretty disappointing when specs show that I should be at 22/25mpg city/hwy. And I’m WELL below that lol.

Has anyone else here been under 20mpg with their fuel efficiency?
Are there any tune options to help fuel efficiency on these?

Thanks in advance, any and all help is appreciated 🤙🏽

More specific details here may get you a better answer, but considering any one of those can affect fuel economy, the answer is "yes...it might"

Especially considering this is an inline 4cyl turbo hybrid
The hybrid motor is primarily tuned for increased power and torque...it does aid in fuel economy to some degree, but if you look at the MPG numbers for the Tacoma or 4Runner, which share the same powertrain, you'll see the difference between the hybrid and non-hybrid aren't that drastically different at all.

I can attest to the fact that it does get that with the stock wheel/tire setup, once you start putting larger, heavier tires on it and lifting it, those numbers are expected to go down.

Also, there have been quite a few threads that demonstrate that "Eco" mode does not do much to help fuel economy and may even make it worse, so if you're not already, probably best to just leave in "Normal" mode most of the time.

I’m not sure if you are serious or being sarcastic. If you did put a lift you probably put bigger aggressive tires, and a roof rack. It is a 4 cylinder and not very aerodynamic to begin with. Those mods cost you 3-4 mpg I bet. Looks dope though don’t it?
I’m actually being serious lol this is my first SUV with a lift on it. I didn’t put the lift or tires on it either, the dealership did it all. It looks sweet but I’m not digging the fuel efficiency at all..I commute 45 miles for work one way lol so far having to fill up every 2-3 days

It took my new 2025 over 2000 miles before the mileage went from a consistent 18 mpg no matter what driving city or highway to now averaging 20 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Stock tires and wheels. I also did not feel the electric motor until after 1000 miles.
You were averaging 18mpg on the factory wheels? I won’t lie, that’s pretty wild, but I’m glad your fuel efficiency went up!

Don’t tell me that! Hahaha damnit!
I run 34 inch tires on +35 17 inch rims (decided against a lift). I average 15-17mpg at freeway speeds. I average 21-23 mpg on rural 45-55 mph roads, and I average 18-19mpg around town. Freeway driving is the worst application for this vehicle for mpg.

My mileage is about 21..3 for the first 400 miles. Stock LC Premium with factory roof rails. Mixed town/highway.. Driving in ECO. I am going to try NORMAL for the next couple of hundred miles. Just to see the difference.

I have about 7k miles on my 58, I continue to get better gas mileage. I’m now getting 365 miles until the fuel light comes on. I drive in normal mode around town and I drive in sport mode on the freeway. I wouldn’t call myself a lead foot but if I can , I never drive under 80 mph on open freeways.
I frequently drive from the SF Bay Area to Reno Nevada, I average about 21 mpg going to Reno and about 24/25 mpg coming home. I am more than pleased with the gas mileage. My thought is break them in like you’re going to drive them. It’s always worked on all of my Tacoma’s.

At just over 1000 miles I am seeing this as well. Except I’ve been averaging about 21 mpg since the beginning. Will be curious where I end up after 2000 miles. I think a lot of it depends on how smooth a driver you are. Easy starts and anticipated stops are key-

im a little over 1k myself and did a long drive today hitting 21 mpg. When i do my work commute, which is primarily freeway based, im averaging 18-20 mpg. Engine is definitely coming around

Please tell me you have a roof rack and bigger tires/lift as well loll

I’ve been rather easy on the throttle but sometimes I need to accelerate and give it maybe 25-30% but I’m not really going ham on it.

I’m jealous, I just hit over 1.2k and I’m averaging 18. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s any kind of tune that can be done to help with this

Please tell me you also have a lift/bigger tires and roof rack as well loll. I’ve been driving it pretty easy, but I’ve been tempted to give it at least 65% throttle. The turbo sounds nice when I accelerate, however I’m driving about 45-50 miles one way for work b 5 data a week. I needs this to be a bit better on gas mileage lol
