Hey Land Crushers

Attached is a picture of my 3k 2024 LC+. Was going 70 on a Interstate when a Taco turned into my lane, putting me into an inside jersey barrier, which had a metal guard that shot me back out into the side of a semi, which then shot me back into the first wall at 43mph at about a 30 degree angle.

I’ve got a dash cam video from my rig, I was asked not to post it as we are still doing insurance stuff, but was curious if it’s curtains for Dusty.

I mean, I can’t say that I disagree with you, but is that an option? I would think the insurance company is going to make that decision and while I could probably appeal it or something, I doubt that they would just give me the more expensive of the two?

Holy cow. First of all, I hope you and yours are all ok. My wife and I, along with our dogs, were involved in a T-bone accident in our 20013 4 Runner last summer. My wife still experiences PTSD like symptoms from it. The damage looked a lot like yours. It looks like Dusty did his job valiantly though! Our 4 Runner was totaled. The tow company rep said that he thought it would be back on the road, with 100% certainty but it wasn't something we were willing to do. My 2 cents is that I would not want to have the possibility of wild electrons with a rebuild. Again, that was a 2013, not nearly the same electronics as these machines. These rigs have so much computer input flying around and those inputs have the capability to move the control inputs of the car. Nope. Wouldn't do it. If they offer a total I'd go that route. It's hard to let a car go sometimes but your safety is more important.

Get a new one and pay homage to Dusty the Protector! Fellow LC owners...A toast to Dusty, HEAR, HEAR!

You know, just a random thought as I read other posts, depending on your capability, one option would be to total it, replace it, but BUY this back and make this one your hardcore off road machine. Honestly that is probably its future at this point regardless if it's you or not. That would be pretty awesome. All the benefits but in a car that wasn't 65k! In a dream world that would be what I might do given the ability to do so.

Appreciate the opinions. Couple more video stills.

I got a new Jeep Wagoneer as a rental, 1800 miles on it. Drove it home, it sat over night, I hoped in 30 hours later to go pick my daughter up from the airport and it made it about 25 feet down my driveway and died. Beautiful on the inside though.

Hi Proyota, so sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully, you were not injured.

If the crumple zones are crumpled, they'll prob total it. If they do total it, I'd ask how much for the salvage....... it might be worth your time to part it out.

Somewhere here is a thread that links to a YouTube channel where some guys bought a recently totaled '24 LC and and were going about trying to making it road worthy again. Damage was from being in an end to end sandwich, not a sideswipe but the first vid shows the condition of the truck as it rolled off the tow truck into their yard. At last installment they were getting there with the frame and bodywork but only after long waits for parts and prodigious use of torches and sledgehammers, so not for the faint of heart.
I guess at the end of the day it may be up to the insurance companies (unless you're a lawyer or willing to hire one) but I agree, start with a clean slate if you can - I can't imagine that the wait for a same spec '25 would be any longer than the wait on new door panels, new wings, new hood, new running board (none of which look repairable) to say nothing of whatever unmentionables beneath the bodywork need fixing/replacing.

Wow sorry to see that. Hope you're ok. Whiplash is no joke so be careful. As for the truck: talk to the insurance assessor and make sure they total it. With the repairs and the rental it's most likely not worth it anymore (both doors, a-pillar, b-pillar, fender, hood, front frame, running board, sil, airbags?). If they still fix it then either get a huge compensation for value reduction from the other guy, Then offload the vehicle ASAP as they will never get it right. Rattling doors that are out of alignment and rust all over the place are guaranteed. This is a truck that someone could buy for cheap and mod it for off-road. Maybe you want to do that if you get that compensation for value reduction.

Damn I was at that exact spot on 90 Monday. Hope everyone is ok. That is a crazy windy 2 lane area with a lot of semi's and usually low visibility or bad road conditions. I drive it once a month.

I’ve been in the bodyshop business my whole life, feel free to ask me anything you want and I will do my best to give honest correct answers.
I’m sorry for what you’re about to go through.
75% of the value is about 52k, that seems like a lot of money, which would 'fix' a lot of problems, but how feasible is it in practical terms?

I saw the pictures, and I recognize that area. Hateful area. I feel for anyone driving something large. I get hyper alert. I also drive it about once a month.

wish you luck. huge sad face when I saw the pictures. :(

So practical usually goes right out the window, it’s all dollars and cents. Insurance companies will seek out the most cost effective way to close this claim.
