FYI 2025 Landcruiser Premium does not come with Sway Bar Disconnect as standard

It’s cumbersome at best, it is inconsistent with making window stickers available which limits your ability to confirm options and / or standard equipment.

Sorry that you’re having to deal with this complication. Frustrating that Toyota would quietly make this change shortly after delivering 2025 units that included the feature as standard. This was a too-common practice by many car makers during the COVID aftermath but I would have hoped that this had eased by now

Mine just arrived at dealer and reportedly has the SDM. I have a plan b in Cullman Alabama, they have the exact same 2025 model available with 20" wheels and with confirmed SDM. Get your 2025 model asap if you want SDM!

Glad it all worked out for you, now go out and enjoy it!

No apologies needed. This was a surprising development. Glad it is working out for you!

That is very strange that Toyota is making the change mid-year for 2025. As another data point my non-premium 2025 LC came with the SDM standard.

Guessing here, but it may be a supply issue with something. We know the 4R has had launch delays due to a part supply. Perhaps, as it's the same factory being built and timing is interesting as I hear the allocations for the new 4R have begun.....

It's probably a combo of:
1. They need SDMs for 4Runners
2. The writing is on the wall for the 1958 edition, so they need to whittle away on the baseline LCLC to get that "Starting at!" price down a bit. LCLC is the new base model if they pull the plug on the 1958.

Personally, I really like the SDM for bumpy forest roads, but I can see why it would be relegated to "optional" given how a large majority of LC drivers will likely never use it. (Excluding everyone here, of course! We're all off-roading beasts!)

The SDM is only on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter 4Runner, I'm curious how many of those they expect to sell.

I believe it is also on–or an option for–the TRD Offroad (Premium?).

It is not available on the TRD off road. Only the Pro and Trailhunter get the SDM for the 4Runner. Combined they will make up likely 5%-8% of the total 4Runner volume if they mirror Tacoma.

I have a feeling that they just can't get enough of the SDMs, so they made the running change to make it optional in the LC. I don't think it has anything to do with the 1958 like many are speculating.

I’ll be signing on a base LC with SDM standard tomorrow evening so seems like something they are phasing out.

Just picking up my LC LC now. Dealer told me that the dealerships (for what it's worth) could not get enough LC LC models due to toyota having slow supplies of the SDM parts which was delaying the builds. To help out the dealers, toyota made the SDM optional and started sending LC LC without them. This makes the dealerships happy apparently because instead of 2 LC LC a month, they're getting 10 a month. Judging by the sea of available 1958s at my dealership and no LC LC on the lot besides the 2 delivered today, it makes sense to me.

I don't know. The cynical part of me sees it as a way to boost pricing. Came standard on my '24 and should be standard on the '25s.

While I generally don't believe anything a dealership says, they do have pull -- via the distributors -- in vehicle spec. It is a reasonable story.

Example: I had a friend that worked for Toyota in Japan tell me that the 4Runner was supposed to die in 2018 but the dealers and distributors threw a fit. That's just when the 4Runner sales were picking up steam. That's why we saw a bunch of small improvements implemented starting then (carplay, LED headlights, push button start, blind spot monitoring, radar cruise, 360 camera, etc) to hold the model over and keep it somewhat modern. The really expensive stuff (engine, transmission, emissions related) doesn't get changed in this scenario, but they will make small changes to meet the need.

it's my belief that the Toyota surveys, that I am a part of, indicated people would purchase the LC without the SBD........... so they made it an option. On the latest survey there were many questions concerning the "nanny" systems. On my most important improvement question, I suggested a larger fuel tank!

Lets face it many LC owners version of off roading is a gravel road and don't really understand the SBD's value nor want to pay for it. Those that do understand it's value have no issue paying for it.

Kind of like a front locker and manual hubs, I wish they were factory options and would have gladly paid the premium for OEM units.

The supply chain thing makes sense...I feel like I heard/read stories this past summer about Tacoma TRD Pro deliveries being delayed due to waiting specifically for the SDM.

Update on SDM no longer on 2025 LC Premium:

Great news for me: My LCLC arrived to my local dealer (Texas) yesterday. Checked it over, all good. I plan to complete transaction Monday after predicted sleet/ice storms pass thru. Texas…….

My mid-to late December build 2025 LC definitely has SDM. Dealer said that they do not know the reason, but that Toyota has a history of making rolling assembly line changes especially since Covid. They said that any vehicle on the assembly line Jan 1 and after will be affected by these option and pricing changes. So MIINAL and others just made it thru.

Once I complete the purchase, I will post a comment directed to those of us subject to the “Gulf States Toyota” port of Houston distribution process and how to circumvent all of those tacky PIO add-ons at a considerable savings.

I just picked up my 25 TLC LC trim in Underground yesterday with a 11/24 order date via build spec sheet. It has SDM standard. I started freaking out a few weeks back when I was playing around with the online builder and saw it being an option beginning of January 25. When I spoke to my sales person yesterday about the rolling change, he had no idea about it. And it’s a big volume dealership.
