FYI 2025 Landcruiser Premium does not come with Sway Bar Disconnect as standard

Just informed by dealer that there is a potential problem with the stabilizer disconnect device and that is why they stopped installing them as standard. Also, dealer cannot/will not install the device after delivery.
This doesn't make a lot of sense imo. If there was a an actual problem impacting safety there should be a stop sale order, and recall of the devices.
Toyota also added stainless steel exhausts as an option Its possible Toyota is allowing its distributors in the USA greater flexibility in how the vehicles are configured.

Hello all, new user. Thanks for building and contributing to this site, it has been good reading for me while awaiting delivery -which is in a week or so……..

…..I put a deposit down on a LC LC with premium package………I was not aware at the time of signing that Toyata had changed sway bar disconnect to optional for LC LC. Go build a 2025 landcruiser on toyota's site and you will see you have to add it to the build.

Dealer just told me that none of the 2025 LC on their way to the southeast have the sway bar disconnect option either. They are checking to see if they can add the system to the truck after delivery. Hopefully they can...

This is deal breaker for me if they can't,……
I am new to this Forum, have been following for a whilt. I intended to introduce myself later but this news made me speak up. So, ….Greetings from HTony in East Texas.!

I thank you MSINAL for posting this news.! This certainly caught me by surprise as I am awaiting a 2025 LCLC P that was specified, priced, and a “deposit” was done using my dealer’s allocation. This was done in late November. The LC is now “on the truck”. Timing is very similar to NEWFIELANDER’s post above and I am sure other’s awaiting their LC.

I called my dealer this morning: Dealer replied that they just confirmed with Toyota that my incoming LC does have SDM and my pricing stands unchanged. They said that as of now future allocations will be under the new pricing and SDM optional.

I will follow-up when it arrives -prob next week- for sure.

Regards, H Tony

Dealer never mentioned a safety issue. They actually used the term "issue", not "problem". Issue could be anything from low supply of wiring harnesses to unavailable fasteners etc.

Yeah, as someone else mentioned. This likely due to low stock for parts, since they started the production of 4Runners. So they made it an optional part and started shipping LCs they already made without it.

A cool $1,250 for the SBD option. So I guess we got a bargain when it was included in the 2024 and early 2025 models 😀

By the way, what is the new rear bumper guard option?
the MSRP was reduced in proportion when they made SDM an option.

The proposed reasons for Toyota deleting the stabilizer disconnect sound logical: safety or lack of parts. But they still offer it - as an option. I have another theory: Toyota needed to put some more MSRP distance between the GX550 and LC. So they started by thinning out some of the base options to lower MSRP thinking 2025 LC buyers would not notice or care. Just a thought.

Looks like mine incoming has it.
Suspension
Front stabilizer bar
electronic disconnecting

On the toyota site it is now a build option @ 1200$ yeow.

Looks like the running boards are now also optional on the Land Cruiser trim, and you can only get them with the Premium package? My 2025 (built in 2024, delivered Nov. 30th) has SDM and (illuminated) running boards listed as standard, on the build page the running boards are listed under the premium package now, and as others have noted the sway bar disconnect is a completely separate $1250 option(!). Also new, the $3514 Moab package with $3514 worth of options that are either irrelevant or detrimental to running trails around Moab.

I’ve ridden on forest service type roads with washouts here and there and have tried it with and without the stabilizer bar connected. Nothing too radical and obviously at very low speeds. I honestly don’t notice any difference in ride quality with it disconnected. I would think any vehicle with IFS will give a smoother ride than a Wrangler both on and off road.
Thanks for this sdm opinion, If you can't easily feel the difference in your example, i probably wouldn't either. i'm hoping my reserved LC arrives with the sdm, but if not i will probably just accept as is at this point. Supposed to arrive in about a week.
Thanks for everyone's input.

I think the SDM helps a lot even in city driving. If you go around a steep clover leaf to get on the highway, you will roll to the side farther than an America's Cup sailboat without it. I bet it also ruins your score on Drive Pulse by running up your harsh cornering tally

Or maybe Toyota is testing the space between the 1958 and the previous (ie more-equipped) base trim with an eventual goal of eliminating the 1958?

This makes me wonder what other current standard features between the trims will become “a la carte” options going forward and/or if the 1958 will be discontinued for MY26.
Likely going to be discontinued, maybe not until MY27, but MY26 is possible. It is a limited edition and likely depends on sales with the new 4Runner, I think the 1958 might become more popular next to the 4Runner and can see them killing it for that purpose, reverse logic I know, but I’m sure they are going to want to sell 4Runners.

I put a deposit down on a LC LC with premium package with many additional trinkets thrown in that i don't need.

This is deal breaker for me if they can't, so i'm now looking at GX550 as an alternative now and trying to get my deposit back.

if your wondering why, I've suffered with manual disconnects in the past and prefer not to crawl around on the ground digging muck and vegetation out of the sway bar links trying to jimmy the pins back in. Yes i'm too old and spoiled for that anymore, especially with only 8 inches of ground clearance aired-up on pavement.
Why wouldn't you just reorder the LC with it?

The dealer tried to find one for me that had SDM but found that none of the new 2025s inbound to the southeast (USA) had the SDM. Customers are not able to order a toyota vehicle and I dont know what the dealer can see exactly in their system. i have great trust in my local dealership, they have always been upfront and i doubt they would mislead me. Unlike every other dealership ive used in the past.

In the online Search Inventory function, you are able to filter the search to only find vehicles with the SDM “package”. When I do that for everything within 500 miles of me (Alabama), there is only one “exact match” and it is listed as sale pending. For that undelivered but pre sold unit, the SDM option is listed as included.

I only looked at the listed options for one of the many “similar” matches (ie that didn’t match my requested filter) and confirmed that SDM was not listed as an included option.

I'm in Alabama as well. I used the inventory search for first time and couldn't find mine. However, the window stickers of the ones in transit show the sdm feature as standard. Thanks for pointing me to the inventory search.
