Comparison of lighting quality between square v. round headlights?

IMO the rounds are plenty bright, probably the same as the squares.

That being said, what I did notice is they are aimed kind of low. I haven't dove into adjusting the focal point yet, but it seems to me the focal point is low.

I would agree, I did have my dealership set mine higher but now they’re too high at some point I’ll need to adjust them down a little bit. Having said that adjusting them higher helped with the shadows being in your view site.
 
But wait, post #11 above; the LC has auto headlight leveling. So do you still need to adjust manually?

On some headlights the housing can be adjusted or the default “level” adjusted and still work with auto level. It doesn’t take very many degrees of elevation or depression to significantly change the throw of the low and high beams.

I could be wrong here, but I thought I read in the manual that it’s also weight related for auto leveling. I also could be wrong abt what that means to me, If it is just me 99% of the time and my 65 pound golden retriever that may not help me much. So I had mine adjusted because from the get-go you could see about 12 feet in front of you at night and it was not auto leveling and coming up to help with line of sight- at all. They needed to be raised. Just my Experience with them.

Granted I’m 50 and don’t see quite as great as I use to, but in this photo driving at a mere 25MPH, if I didn’t know the road I could have been in some trouble. Right before and after that road marker there is an extremely sharp blind corner and a low water crossing - and both would be challenging to see. Raising them has helped see those conditions. That whole turn around don’t drown .. with that lighting it’s a little more sketchy. You will just have to trust me on that 🤓

Consumer reports just put out a short interview on the Land Cruiser. One of the participants is head of their headlight testing. They actually asked her if Square are better than round. In her answer she mentioned that square has some additional active features she likes versus the round headlight. She mentioned leveling and curve adaptive swiveling. However, no discussion over light quality, quality output, etc. I have not been able to find any documentation that says the round ones do not have leveling or cuve adaptive. Can anyone else comment?

The rest of her interview was frustrating to listen to. Lots of other comments like other poorly informed reviewers put out regarding it being “too nice to take off road” or “Not luxurious enough for the price.” Or “ Outdated body on frame construction” or “ Drives like a truck. These people should just go buy a Range Rover and join the rest of the pretenders at the country club.

I have not noticed auto leveling or curve adaptive features with my rectangular headlights.

I agree with your comments but did anyone saw the full video. I do agree with them that transition between hybrid to engine coming on could be a bit more smoother. I do agree rear seat space is not much for a full size adult. Rear seats could have been more comfy. They are ok for a short drive but not for a long journey. It does have truck like ride and yes it is a truck but here in Canada LC with premium package is 100 grand and for that it could be a bit more smoother. I personally don't find it bumpy but that is their opinion. Most youtubers say it has lot of room but I see lots of average height men complaining their knees hit the sides. So again it is their opinion and one should have a open mind watching these videos. Like everyother youtuber they are making money on views and likes.

Thankfully I’ve started to see prices coming down to MSRP from when FB marketplace had ads with them >$100K. The LC premium I checked out was $88K at MSRP. So $92 or so with GST. Still twice what my current car cost. Even that close to 6 figures without going over, expectations should be high.

We pay 15% tax in bc. That takes you to 99
