Toyo Open Country AT3 265/70/r18 vs. Nitto Terra Grappler G3 275/70/r18

Yeah, I had heard that there was significantly less rubber on the OEM Michelins, than the ones that I would buy at Costco or TireRack. I guess that’s why they are so lite weight, compared to the same named replacement tire.
Maybe THAT's how they get those mpg ratings...

Just ordered Toyo ATIII EV - 275/70/18. I am putting them on my wife's LC. We use the truck as a daily driver and light trail/property outings. I wanted the larger look (stance) in an SL tire. The EV option is new to the Toyo line. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Yes, I know it has a less durable ply but has a weight of 43lbs and seems to be the best tire on the market for this size in an SL.

I have the Toyos' and love them. They have handled everything I have thrown at them--heavy rain, dirt, mud, snow, and dry--incredibly well. I will absolutely buy them again when the time comes.
Can you tell us what Toyos you have now? My 1958 LC came with OEM Yokohama Geocandar X-CV 245/70/R18 110H. They are obviously road tires. I am in central NC and we have very little snow here, but I do go off road and drive up north in snow occasionally. I only have 3500+/- miles on the vehicle, but when the OEM tires wear out, I plan to get a set of tires more suited to all conditions. But what to get? I have time to figure that out.

I installed 275/70/18 Toyo AT3 on mine and they work great. You can go smaller if you want it smaller. I would hesitate to go bigger as it might rub on turns or articulation.

I have C load rated AT3’s and drive in similar conditions. They are 285/75/17 on some 17” Black Rhinos with a 2.5” leveling kit. Gives it a nice presence, gets tons of compliments, drives great, and does not rub (before this mod I chose to remove the FE mudflaps and air dams, which I think are ugly) even when fully compressed off road.

Sweet looking ride. Thinking about the same tire brand and size. What's your city and hwy mpg after the lift and tire upgrade?

Walnut Creek. City I can get about 17.5 and highway about 15.5 if I drive like a grandma (sorry if that offends anyone) and stay around 70mph. I ty to be a good driver mindful of those around me and do not seek high mpg or avoid getting low mph.
