For several decades, I owned VW TDI's (diesels) and used a Mityvac for topside oil changes (Same for our boat) with no issues.
I was thinking of reviving this practice for the LC. Any thoughts positive or negative (other than the "Can't get all the oil out")? I plan to do 5K oil changes. TIA

My GR86 has a topside oil filter which makes the practice very appealing. The LC filter location means that you are still crawling underneath so not as much a slam dunk.

The Fumoto drain valve is a much easier solution than a Mity-vac and as mentioned above doesn't solve the filter change.

I looked into cutting an access cover to negate the removal of the skid plate, but the filter is located right above the slanted forward edge of the skid plate. I did notice the filer is accessible from side of the skid plate and I'm currently looking at fabricating a flexible funnel/drain channel so I don't have to remove the skid plate to change the filter.
