Tire Upgrade ?

The Nitto Terra Grappler G3 at 275/70/18 seems like an excellent choice based on size, SL rating, weight, performance, etc.
I am new to the all-terrain tire world. What is the overall perception of Nitto and the Terra Grappler specifically ? Most of the reviews are puff pieces at this point.
I had the G2s put on my 5th gen 4Runner in 2017 and really liked them. It was the same OEM tire they were putting on the TRD pros at the time. I feel they gave it just the amount of aggressive look without sacrificing mileage and ride quality. I did get them in SL stock size. A day before that I had the dealer throw on KO2s C rating in stock size and couldn't stand them. The 5th gen 4runner is already slow and I really recognized the added weight of the tires. Thankfully my service manager said to come right back the next day and swapped tires to the Nittos for no added charge.

There are a few more options this time around. When I get an LC/GX Ill probably go Nittos again or Toyos. I have Toyos on my F150 and have liked them as well. Another option is also Nokian Outpost AT, but they are harder to find.

I'm satisfied. I'm not a big tire guy, and did not want any poke. When I got the LC, i actually was impressed by how big the stock tires were to begin with. The LC is a tall vehicle in real life, I don't think pictures quite capture that, so the tire size relatively doesn't look as big in pictures.

I was deciding between: AT4W, Toyo AT3, Nokian nAT in either stock size at SL, or 275/70r18 at load E.
Hey - to clarify what size are these falkens? look great

Anyone knows, if it's possible to switch from that .....

.... with the same bolts location ???

I literally just removed those air dams an hour ago. Looks much better. I cannot imagine removal would cause a noticeable change in MPGs. Especially around town driving. Maybe if you are making long trips at high speeds quite often you could benefit from keeping them on. Just my guess.

I agree, but I've heard that it reduces your miles per gallon by a little bit.

I did not notice any MPG reduction after removing the air dams.

Most of my miles are highway, 75-80mph, and I'm seeing around 20-21 MPG.
I've had mine off for a couple of tanks worth of gas and haven't noticed any changes either. Still humming along at about 22.4 MPG.

Are you still rolling with stock tires? Because I rarely push past 20.1 on the best of days anymore and I'm wondering about the A/T off road vs. A/T on road tire difference now.

Yes, still stock tires for now. Thinking about going with the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 - 275/70r18 in SL and hoping to not see too much of an MPG hit.

That's it ... but also because I don't thing there is a great MPG difference between this one and the smaller one ....
Not trying to be a smart a$$… but I wonder why Toyota, especially with the ‘bean counters’ role in what makes it to the final product, decided to include it. Purely cosmetic reasons? Or functional reasons, that we are not aware of.

Nothing new here. Air dams reduce aerodynamic lift and improve stability at higher speeds

As a retired bean counter, I can’t recall a single occasion when I decided what would be included / deleted from a product.
