Real World mpg

I have changed my display to show MPG by trip so it resets every time in the car, but I’ve found low numbers in the city, but for my 35-40 mile commute, I’m getting nearly 25-26 MPG cruising around 65-70. Yesterday was 25.7. Best I’ve recorded was 27.6 on a trip. This one did have a traffic slowdown crawling at lower speeds.

Recently my GF and I made a trip from Cherokee County NC to the Biltmore in Asheville. Going there, we only got 22.5 mpg. Mostly 55 mph highways, 93 octane Ethanol free fuel, with stock Michelins, mostly on cruise control. I was kinda shocked, as usually Miss Daisy gets 24+ mpg. Shortly after starting the return trip a few days later, I noticed that Miss Daisy was no longer in ECO mode, so I put her back in eco mode. By the time we got home, Miss Daisy was reporting 24.6 mpg.

It’s there.
-Scroll all the way to the right in the DID,
- Select the picture of the two dials with the gear on it.
-Scroll down to the leaf image & select
  • Select Fuel Economy
  • Select ‘Tank Average’. It will reset at each fill-up
I have the LC edition in Canada and it does NOT show "Tank Average". Only Trip and Total.

LC LC Premium with LC roof rack. Was averaging 17.8 MPG with stock 20” wheels and tires. Now averging 16.4 MPG with Nitto Terra Grappler G3 275/70r18 SL. Disappointing to say the least.

About to turn 20k on the odo and still getting a bit more than 20mpg with roof rails and occasionally crossbars to carry skis. Mix of highway and country roads on the dealer-spec'd 265/65/r19 Ridge Grapplers. I bet I could get another 1-2mpg if I switched to a highway tire.

You aren't looking in the right place then. I have a Canadian 1958 and it's definitely in the settings menu.
It’s tied to the size of the display. The 12.3” display does not have the same options for displaying fuel economy as the 7” display.

Only the 1958 edition has tank average as an option. The models with the larger display do not.

so, I just bought a 25 LC Premium with 20” wheels - I was wondering about the gas mileage - I drove It from Dayton Ohio to Washington DC - 1,000 miles round trip and only got 19.2 MPG - all highway miles. Will it get better as it is broken in? I am not getting anywhere near the 25/23 that it is supposed to do.

Short answer is no.

Some people on the forum say they are hitting the advertised MPG but I think the weight of the evidence is against that being the norm.

People suggest you can only get the advertised MPG under perfect conditions, e.g. no roof rack, no high RPMs, "gliding" in hybrid mode, etc. etc.

I think it's a big miss.

Anecdotally, the fuelly numbers are exactly what I'm getting. About 18.5 average (city) and about 19.5/20 on the highway.

@355 miles today. 19.3mpg, premium, normal mode.

1300 miles from Cedar Falls, IA to Albuquerque, NM got me 19.4pmg doing the speed limit w/ cruise control in NORMAL mode. 20" tires were at 45psi from the dealership...

Driving around town I'm getting 20-ish, lowered to 35psi, rides a bit better

Between 20-60, absolutely. Over 70? Nope.

Tuesday, 250 miles round trip.
Over the mountain into the valley, allot of 75-80mph, some winds day and night, nothing crazy.
A little surface road stuff around town, mostly freeway.
21.3 mpg normal mode factory yomama tires. The only fuel grade to use, premium, a big duh moment.

MPG has everything to do with how you drive. Obviously, this is even more paramount with the LC since you can drive for miles on battery if your RPM's are low enough. The Toyota Prius would actually show you when you were driving on battery versus fuel in their hybrid system. I think this is the difference why I'm getting 22-25mpg and others are only getting 18-19mpg.
