Rattle in driver's B pillar (2024 LC)

Question, in a attempt to help..........

Is it the plastic gear thingy that's making the racket?

If so could you put some lithium grease in there to stop the rattle?
or Place a thin bevil spring in there to take up the slack?
It sounds like BBs rattling around in there or at least mine did. My bet still goes to the driver mirror attached to the door. The aluminum door is too thin for it. It’s only braced by 3 bolts. Needs to be foam padded so when it mounts it has a cushion. I just haven’t had time to deal with it lately.

Yes, its deep to the white gearing that has play in it. Perhaps some thick lithium grease you mentioned would allow some “stick” to diminish a rattle effect. It sits above a floating metal ball below it to assess position (rollover event?). I am concerned grease will eventually make its way down and interfere with the mechanism. I will have the dealer evaluate it before I attempt to modify it on my own.

Just FYI for anyone else tinkering: The spool retracts the seatbelt and gets stuck with very little slack. I had to disassemble the pulley and release the catch on the gearing to lengthen it back to reattach. To avoid this, clamp a good chunk of excess seatbelt so it doesn't retract.

I uploaded a short clip to YouTube so you can hear the rattle and compare it to what your rattle sounds like. Mine sounded like metal on metal or glass on metal tapping. I hope this helps. The more dealers are aware, the sooner they will create a TSB.

And one while driving over a bumpy washboard road.

I did not realize how loud it was, It would have drove me crazy as well.

Dealer will prob replace the entire mech.

Do you have the instructions on how to remove the B pillar body panels? I’ve hear ‘running water’ noise inside the drivers side B pillar during a torrential downpour that required me pulling over, off the road, until the rain subsided.

Thanks for the videos, team! However, that's not the noise I'm experiencing. I've narrowed it down to the passenger-side mic/speaker (roof/liner area). There's a ticking sound, and when I apply pressure to the mic grille, I can almost feel it.

I'm trying to figure out how to remove and inspect it to determine what's causing the issue. Does anyone know if I can safely pull on it to take it out, or if there's another method?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Mine was not coming from the striker. It’s coming from the B pillar Drivers seatbelt pulley assembly (at base of B pillar). It’s the cheap white gearing assembly that rattles and sounds like a metallic tap that projects to upper left ear while driving. I pulled off the trim and recorded it while driving over a bumpy washboard road. Here is the link. It’s all over the forums. Hopefully, the dealer will create a TSB soon enough. It’s a problem with several of their models (LC 2024, GX550, etc).

I have the same sound, but it sounds like it coming from the passenger side cargo area not the B pillar.
