Constant high-pitched ringing noise

Also, any tips/instructions on how to remove that center panel console piece 😅

Disappointing to hear but yeah, expected. Was that just the dealer who said that or did you call Toyota corporate too?

Any idea what deadening material you’re going to use?

Weird that so many people on this forum don’t seem to notice this sound if Toyota’s saying it’s present on all Land Cruisers. Maybe it’s just 2025s?
I mean, I knew what they were going to say, I even told my service advisor I knew what they were going to say, I just wanted it on record. Personally, I don't think they did much except maybe drive it around, listen, and plug it into the computer. They definitely didn't take the rear of the center console off.

I read a lot of stuff on what to use for what, what stops this and that, I've settled on This stuff, I contacted them and they got back to me saying it will work. Since most of the sound is coming from the rear of the console, I'll hit that first and post about the results.

I'm starting to think it's a fan, though I don't know why it would turn off when you stop. Maybe they didn't want to annoy you. 🤣. I don't see any fan exhaust.

When you took apart the rear of the console did you follow a service manual or something or did you just figure it out?

There is a trim removal thread on the forum, the Toyota directions/manual are on there. I saved them to my computer. You can just do the rear w/o the first few pages.

It's pretty loud w/o the plastic covers on, there looks like enough room 1/2" on either side between the bracket and the center console plastic. There is space between the metal bracket and the offending unit.
First video is vehicle powered up, HVAC off. 2nd video is giving it some gas/motor running, HVAC off. There is no way Toyota can say "That is perfectly acceptable" with a straight face. It seems to be coming more from the rear (pax end) of the unit.

Wow! My ears are still ringing from just listening to the videos. That's a different sound then what I'm getting (I think).

That's with the covers off, that bit of plastic does some good. High frequency noise is fairly easy to block.

The unfortunate thing is that the service writer had me text the videos, she didn't use an iPhone and they went via SMS, which degraded the audio/video quality substantially.

So I did listen today, and it is the same sound. Radio and A/C drown it easily, and it isn't constant it seems to come and go and only seems to happen for me when depressing the brake pedal and goes away when fully depressed and at a full stop. I could see how some people don't notice it if they aren't looking for it. But I do drive without the radio on a lot.

On the interstate it isn't an issue. In the country, neighborhood, traffic, it can begin to piss me off, I'm one of "those" people lol. Sound deadening to knock it down isn't going to put me out and will hopefully help. I've spent more time and effort screwing around with the dash speakers.

There’s nothing quite like this horrible sound to ruin a quiet drive off the pavement either.

It's not just us lol. I had a passenger point out the sound today. I'm eager to see how the sound deadening material helps.

A member/owner said it annoyed them in the driver's seat, but was even worse in the passenger seat. I am convinced it is a fan. I cannot see a vent in the rear, but maybe it blows out the pax side. I'll take a better look.

Bad weather today and the weekend. Monday Attempt. Will post up results, if the LC catches on fire, or if I screw up, probably the latter.

Hello friends.

Subject: Solution to High-Pitched Continuous Noise in 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

Vehicle: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2023 (for the Japanese market)

Issue:
A continuous, high-pitched electronic noise was heard from the left upper rear corner (trunk area) of the car. The sound started immediately upon starting the engine and continued uninterrupted until a few seconds after the engine was turned off. It resembled the sound of parking sensors (parktronic) but was constant, regardless of whether the vehicle was stationary or moving. External inspection of the sensors revealed no visible dirt or damage.

Solution:
The noise was traced back to the electric folding/unfolding buttons for the additional rear (third-row) seats located inside the trunk compartment. After fully opening and then closing (folding and unfolding) these seats using the buttons, the high-pitched noise completely disappeared. It appears the buttons or their internal relay/switch may have been slightly stuck or malfunctioning, causing the continuous electronic sound.

Recommendation:
If you experience a similar issue, first try fully folding and unfolding the additional seats several times using the designated buttons. This simple step resolved the noise issue in my vehicle completely.

I hope this helps other Prado owners facing a similar annoyance!
