I’m at this very moment out in the middle of nowhere with a trashed front skid plate and scratching my head on how to even approach this lacking ramps…

Man sorry for your hardship. Not trying to be offensive but that isn't a skid plate, it's a debris shield only meant to keep road debris from getting in.......

That said, all the dealership and mfg paperwork said this vehicle had skid plates. It’s definitely not steel, but also not paper machee like Subarus debri shield.

How to approach what? Any pics of what caused that? Where are you wheeling?

It turned out not to be as involved as the document posted on another thread made it seem. It initially looked like there were 5 sets of trim to remove in very awkward places, especially on a trail. Turned out to just be one piece of trim and 5 bolts easy to reach. For the front plate at least

The cause was reversing over a rock that normally would clear fine, except that the plate already had moderate damage (I don’t even know from what) that caused the ruined side to hang low and snag on the rock. This is AZ near mammoth

I upgraded to the FE skid plates. Ordered and installed at local Toyota Dealer. If you want both of them, they cover about to the middle of the truck. Cost about $1000-1200 installed.

welp, I can offer that I have a LC-LC Premium, and bought the front and transmission skip plates that are on the FE, and they installed without any trouble.

Can you share the parts numbers? I’ve seen the trans plate but not the front

Ah so there’s a transmission skid but no oem front skid? Or am I seeing this wrong
I think (don't know) the LC/LC and 1958 come with debris covers for the front and Xmsn and they are kinda flimsy. The 1st Edition comes with a front skid plate that covers the Xmsn and a second one that covers the Xfer case.
