only getting 16-17 mpg!

My MPG varies a lot

8 mpg: cold engine, 1 mile through residential streets with lots of stops
14mpg: back home but engine is a bit warmer now
16mpg: interstate at 85mph, windy
17-18mpg: around town but a bit longer drives, like a 15 minute drive to Costco
20mpg: out on a two-lane highway for a nice long drive
22mpg: same but it’s slightly downhill overall
55mpg: down the mountain

My Fuelly average is 17.4. Best tank was 22.4 (road trip) and worst was 15.4 (only short city drives)

… your mileage may vary …

16.64 MPG. Been tracking it since June in old school way of noting miles and how much gas pumped into tanks. Best tank was 21.34 gallons, but the reading before was 14.56 (anomaly).

I'd call expected MPGs on this vehicle to be fraudulent. Surprised nobody has done a class-action lawsuit on them. It's not even close.
I don't want to be a basher, but the EPA numbers are fraudulent and no where close. We recently purchased a Mazda CX90 and it actually gets better than EPA posted MPG. Would I trade my Land Cruiser for my wife's CX90, umm no.

Some of you guys are dead set on paying lawyers for nothing in return. A class action lawsuit has zero chance of winning for not matching EPA testing.

I’ve got 1400 miles on mine driving the hills of upstate NY. In normal mode, I’m getting 14.5 typically and not being heavy on the pedal. Between that, the tiny gas tank, and the constant sensor blocked flashing I get with driving in the snow, I’m not very pleased so far.

My quad cab GMC Sierra got better fuel economy and a much longer range.

I’ll keep it at least until the end of summer, but not in love so far.

I’m getting 20 to 21 mpg on factory 20” wheels and Michelin ice-x snow tires with probably not enough pressure in them and mostly interstate speeds, normal mode. Lots of up and down from sea level to about 12k ft. But also, there’s already a long and extensive thread on this.

Only getting 17mpg

Short answer: there’s a range but most people get around 21 mpg.

The estimates are frustratingly wrong but I think it is important to consider that this engine is predominantly about performance, not efficiency. There is a lot of low end torque, which is great for accelerating and for driving off-road but not for gas mileage. I know this will touch nerves for some members of this forum, but if you drive like a normal person and are considerate to other drivers you simply will not get the kind of mileage that's possible in closed-world testing.
Agreed

Getting 24+ mpg in local driving with at least 5 mins of warmup in the mornings.
I’ve got the mid trim with 20 inch wheels and drive in ECO mode.

Before anyone roasts me, yes I fill up my Land Cruiser with regular fuel. It’s a personal choice.

Blended 70/30 City and Highway I have been recording 14 L/100 Km which is approximately 17 mpg. I was hoping for slightly better.
You're talking Lower Mainland highway though, right? if so, your highway is drastically different than my highway (much less steady speed). I don't have mine yet, but will be interested to see how it goes. May have to wait for spring for meaningful numbers though.

Won't be me, but it wouldn't surprise me as litigious as this world is.

Expectation of 22-25 (23 avg) and getting 15-18 (Avg 16/17) is a big difference. We're talking about a 25%-30% overstatement in MPG of estimate versus actual.

I've never seen anything like this on any vehicle I've ever owned. Not even close.

There are people who can get posted MPGs.

I am sorry others are not getting what they expected. However, I am very happy with the gas mileage so far particularly when compared to other SUVs I have owned recently (Porsche, Volvo, Acura, Jeep). The LC is easily getting about 5 MPG better than those.

WIthout too much driving behavior management, I am consistently getting within the EPA ratings for mixed suburban driving. I think the trick is to not let the engine go over 2K RPMs. The beauty of the hybrid is the battery torque can be leveraged so you can still move relatively quickly and efficiently without too many compromises.

Now, I agree the size of the gas tank is a legitimate issue although other than the US brands, most other vendors also seem to be targeting a roughly 350 mile range capacity and you don't get a full size spare.
