In my case the burnt smell was coming from the heater ducts, I turned the heater on high, rolled down the windows and let it run for a couple of hours and haven't noticed the smell since.

I've noticed that smell a few times. It comes and goes. Seems to originate from the engine bay somewhere. I've just been assuming that it will eventually go away after whatever is burning has burned away. Might try EOD Guy's trick. I'm only at 11,000 km.I'm at 25 000km and just started noticing a plastic/oil faint but distinct smell when I am idling with the heater on. It started at around 20 000km but perhaps more importantly it started when temperature dropped well below freezing and I needed to idle for 45 minutes at a time several times a week. Anyone else experiencing this? I have it at the dealer now but of course it probably won't happen while they have it..
I'm starting to narrow it down a bit now, it is definitely from under the hood, smells like an egr type of leak and comes into the vents from under the hood and into the cowling in front of the windshield. It doesn't happen all the time. When it is happening I can smell it outside the car anywhere around the hood, even after it has been shut off for a few minutes. I'll figure it out and pinpoint the source for the dealer eventually I hope.I've noticed that smell a few times. It comes and goes. Seems to originate from the engine bay somewhere.
