New from UK

This may be of interest from Toyota Spain…………
Their FE compares to a VX edition, which I presume (may be wrong) is their version of the Invincible.
The main difference other than the ‘FE look’ is the sunroof. Their FE has a panoramic roof compared to what must be a standard sunroof.
The German site shows the panoramic roof. Pictures attached.

Also interesting is that it shows a combined WLTP fuel consumption of 10.6/10.5 litres per 100km or circa 26.6/26.9 mpg.
Sadly no - both UK models ( there are just 2 - FE and Invincible) have same Pan roof

What about the guy that had a message to say his LC was at the dealership?
That was me. I've now had a chat with the dealer and he knows nothing about the date that I was given and the car is definitely not at the dealer despite what the app says - see attached images! He thinks that the delivery date will be October but doesn't have a confirmed date. I asked about tyres and he thinks they will be the same as those fitted on RAV4s - Bridgestones, but he will try and find out for definite.

Bridgestone - I thought the FE had 265 70 R18 Michelin Trail LTX

I have seen the footage of journalists and motoring influencers driving it on trails with those stock tyres and it seems to be very accomplished

I can’t see I like the way they look but I may well give it the first year on the stock and then see about changing

I have the 255 55 20 General Grabber AT3 s on my L322 and I like them - I see that the US folk love the Falkens and some speak highly about the Toyo and the BFG - outside the more extreme rubber

I need an AT not a specialist mud plugger

The information is all a bit vague - the dealer 'thought' that's what the tyres would be. I guess all will become clear at some point! I need to be able to cross wet, boggy pasture where there's a likelihood of sinking quite a bit and get along wet, deeply-rutted tracks. I also need on rare occasions to be able to pull other vehicles out that have got bogged. The BF Goodrich KO2s have never let me down yet so they're probably about the most extreme tyres I would need. But, maybe the stock tyres would be ok?? The trouble is - if they're not up to the job and I'm stuck in the mud it's too late to change my mind... :)

Hello Dr D my app is now showing on the boat / left the factory Dave 07973408032

My last couple of LC’s came with Dunlop GrandTrek AT20’s which may well be what the new cars will have. @DrD, the tyre is good but I had a few ‘moments’ so I don’t think you’ll get what you want out of the stock tyres on wet boggy pastures. The outgoing Invincibles came with 19” rims which was madness as you couldn’t get a more off-road focussed tyre in that size. The new cars are either 18” (FE) or 20” (INV) so you can pretty much take your pick on any tyre which for me will either be the Grabber AT3’s or the BF Goodrich KO2/KO3’s.
I’ve had the Grabbers in the past which are great but I think I’ll get the BFG’s this time as friends say they have a low wear rate, are quiet enough on the road and they certainly have a more aggressive / purposeful look which these car deserve!

As I have said I have had the Grabbers a few times and my current L322 has them - the KO3 s do look good - not sure about the difference between KO2 and KO3

What size do you plan to get - the stock 18 inch seem to be 265 70 R 18

I found the answer to my own question

Here's what I was able to find:

When comparing BF Goodrich KO3 tires to KO2 tires, several key differences stand out.

Off-Road Performance: The KO2 tires are well-regarded for their exceptional off-road capabilities, particularly in challenging terrains like mud, snow, and rocks. They feature an aggressive tread pattern and robust construction, which provide excellent traction and durability. However, the KO3 tires offer enhanced off-road performance due to their fortified design, making them even more reliable in tough conditions.

On-Road Performance: The KO3 tires provide a smoother and quieter ride compared to the KO2. This improvement is due to the optimized tread pattern and advanced technology that reduce road noise and enhance comfort. The KO3 tires are designed to balance on-road comfort with off-road capability, making them a better choice for daily driving.

Wet and Snow Performance: The KO3 tires show significant advancements in wet and snow performance. They feature an improved tread design and softer rubber compound, which enhance traction and braking in wet conditions. The KO3 tires also perform better in snowy and icy conditions compared to the KO2, thanks to their updated siping and tread pattern.

Durability and Tread Life: The KO3 tires come with a longer treadwear warranty, often up to 60,000 miles, compared to the KO2's 50,000 miles. This indicates better durability and a longer lifespan for the KO3 tires. Additionally, the KO3 tires maintain their performance more consistently as they wear down, thanks to their higher silica content and lighter structure.

Comfort and Noise: The KO3 tires provide a more comfortable and quieter ride than the KO2. The newer design minimizes road noise and vibrations, enhancing the overall driving experience, especially on highways and paved roads.

Price and Fuel Efficiency: While the KO2 tires are slightly more affordable due to being an older model, the KO3 tires offer better fuel efficiency and performance features, justifying their slightly higher price point. The KO3's optimized tread design reduces rolling resistance, leading to better fuel economy”

This may be of interest for anyone considering all terrain tyres and what sizes may fit for the limited tyre size availability in the UK.

Not sure if this includes the UK market though, think it is just Japan:

Yes, my previous car had the GrandTrek AT23’s not AT20’s as said earlier.
Appears that in the UK we may struggle to get the BFG KO3’s anytime soon in 265/60R20 so it’s probably going to be the KO2’s which are still great tyres.

This all assumes that these new LC’s ever arrive on UK shores………….

What do you more experienced guys think about the BFG’s

For an FE on 18 inch wheels which do you lean towards

265/65 R18 BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN TYRE KO2 117R

Or 265/60 R18

The vehicle seems to be coming on 265/70 R18 but with for less nobbly rubber

The 265/65 R18 compared to the standard 265/70 R18 would be about 3% smaller in diameter, so about -2mph error. I think that would be ok. Alternatively, a 285/65 R18 would be the same diameter.
I’m hoping that they either make available the KO2 in the default FE size in the UK, once they realize there is a market for them, or bring the 265/70 KO3 to the UK sooner rather than later. I will probably therefore stick with the default (Michelins?) for a while and see what happens.

For the UK, pretty much everyone wanting All terrain tyres either has the Grabber AT’s or the BFG’s. I have had the Grabbers a few times in the past and they are good but from seeing the BFG’s perform in mud on other cars, I really think they are better and certainly last longer.
The BFG KO2’s also look so purposeful which suits such a legendary off-road vehicle.

The 5mm difference you mention above seems about right for the heavier duty tread and certainly won’t have any negative impact as all tyres wear by more than 5mm in their lifespan.

Have any of you UK buyers addressed insurance yet?

I am with Admiral and checked yesterday and whilst they have insured older LCs they currently do not have the 250 on their systems and I’m told can’t offer cover on it unless and until it is listed

I have asked them to escalate to underwriting and explained the new model is coming into the country Sept/Oct and pushed for them to evaluate and add it to their model listing - it’s not easy of course dealing with these companies these days as they are so low cost they don’t want to deal by phone and they try to systemise everything to remove the need for customer service or sales staff

I am a little concerned this has the potential to be a bit of a disaster if the insurance market is slow and there is a period during which no insurers will touch the 2024 LC .? Have any of you good people made any more progress ? Do Toyota offer a period of cover valid on delivery for a certain period like some other motor manufacturers ? Is Toyota insurance worth considering - read some less than glowing reviews
