1958 LC
I just joined the forum. I’ve been doing a lot of research and decided on the 1958 LC. I know color is a personal preference but I’m struggling between ice cap and meteor shower. I currently own a white Rubicon. I’ve always liked white and it is definitely cooler in our Central Texas summers.

Having owned a white vehicle for the past 10 years, I’ve been thinking about a change. However, I’m not a huge fan of silver. What are your thoughts about the ice cap vs meteor shower? Does MS look more like just another silver vehicle or do the beige undertones stand out? I’ve read about the appearance changing under different lighting.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. To the ice cap owners, any regrets if you were on the fence as well?

I have the meteor shower LC and love the color. You would never call it a silver LC. It’s definitely a different color. Good luck with it.

Ice Cap for me, but MS is a cool color especially with a black roof and A pillars
This exactly. I was lukewarm on my MS at first and always felt envy when I’d see an Ice Cap or Heritage Blue, but as I’ve added more black accessories, I’ve really grown to love the color and have no regrets.

You can’t go wrong with either

Would you refer to it as a champagne? I think in Canada it is referred to as brown sugar. Does MS have a consistent beige undertone?

Champagne is exactly what I use to describe it to friends and family that haven’t seen it, although I could be using the wrong name.
The amount of brown you see really depends on the lighting. There’s almost always a slight undertone, but it’s really prevalent in ~golden hour. Here’s mine in a few different lighting conditions

Wow, the color really changes based on the lighting. Thanks for sharing!

I have Icecap, but someone told me (afterwards) that icecap will change color over time (don't know how true that is). But MS is definitely not silver. Its like brown sugar silver, I saw it in one of the showrooms when I was shopping for mine, I suggest you do the same and see if you like it. My wife did, better than my icecap.

Did the person describe how the ice cap would change color?

I wanted MS but at the time, black was the only color coming in........ so I settled on blk.

I bought MS. I don't think there is a better-looking vehicle on the road than black, but for daily drivers, I want a metallic grey/ silver variant vehicle. They clean up better and hide dirt/ scratches better, so MS was the obvious choice for me.

I originally had a Meteor Shower reserved, but switched to Heritage Blue after I saw one in person. The Meteor Shower has a brown undertone that you definitely pick up depending on the lighting. I think it's a cool color, but my wife definitely didn't like the brown undertone. Meteor Shower was originally called "brown sugar" when it was used in earlier iterations of other Toyota vehicles.

This to a tee. It really depends on the lighting situation, but I always see a slight undertone of bronze/brown regardless. Back in the day, I owned a Ford Contour in "Champagne" color that was a little less subtle with silver undertones, but I can definitely see the correlation. In my opinion, Meteor Shower strikes an almost perfect balance of light bronze and silver.

I was originally set on Heritage Blue with Wind Chill Pearl as my backup until I finally got to test drive the LC last fall, and the combo I ended up test driving was Meteor Shower with Java interior. I knew right then that was the color combo for me...just took me a little while to find it at the price I was willing to pay. Couldn't be happier.

Enjoy whatever you choose!

Thank you for the feedback. May I ask how much below MSRP were you able to negotiate?

Sure! I went with an LCLC Premium, so my discount will likely be different than what you can get on a 1958. I was able to negotiate ~$4500 off MSRP in the Northern VA area back in February. There were a bunch of 1958s in the area that I probably could have gotten a better deal on, but I was looking for the color combo and specific features.

I just picked up my 1958 in Meteor Shower. After driving a white Jeep rubicon for ten years, I love the MS. I ditched the OEM 245 tires and installed Toyo 265/70R/18 Open Country AT 3. Now it looks like a 1958 LC. I ended up scoring a pretty good deal, $5K below MSRP in Austin TX.
Congrats! Let’s see some pics!

Best color there is. Congratulations!
