Land Cruiser vs 4Runner

I would bet and hope the lc has more head room , larger rear storage and more head and legroom for second seat

I’d bet the legroom is very similar based on having the same wheelbase. But with the LC being ~6” taller…yeah, it has loads more headroom and rear storage than the 5th gen 4Runner at least. It’s like driving a box truck with the view forward and all the headroom. Of course, it doesn’t drive like one. It honestly drives and feels like my 5th gen after the OME suspension was installed, but without having to “climb” into it from the lift.

I went with the LC, mostly because of timing. I needed a car now where the 4R isnt available at the moment. One of the things that pushed me over to the LC was the assumption that the LC interior will provide a more spacious cabin.
The one niggle about this space thing is that plastic shroud in the 2nd row seat foot well/tunnel bump. They should have trimmed that back so a middle person could put there feet there.

The LC has frame-mounted front suspension bump stops. I don't see those on pictures of the 2025 4Runner's suspension. I suspect the bump stop will be integrated into the shock tower like the new Tacoma. So, a less durable chassis.

I bet that shroud is there because the hybrid motor pushes the transmission back a few inches, requiring a bit more height further back in the transmission tunnel.

Earlier this week, I got to see a '25 Land Cruiser and '25 4Runner parked next to each other at my dealer. Styling wise, I certainly prefer the Land Cruiser, but the 4Runner also looks good. What surprised me was how the 4Runner looked like a baby Land Cruiser. Even though the dimensions aren't that much different, the extra height and boxy shape of the Land Cruiser gives the appearance of a much more substantial vehicle.

I'd really like to see Toyota jump an LC250 on their recent 4Runner test course. I can't imagine it would survive much worse, despite the stock shocks maybe not being as robust as Fox/OME shocks. Waiting for someone to compare, bolt for bolt, the suspension on the LC and the (lifted) TrailHunter and TRD Pro versions of the 4Runner. I really want to know how that extra ground clearance is being accomplished, and whether any ancillary suspension parts are different (I believe TRD/TH Tacoma axles and driveshafts are different).

I test drove a new gen 4Runner TRD off road back to back with a Land Cruiser. The LC was clearly a smoother more luxurious feeling ride. I’m not sure how much of this has to do with the off road trim’s tires and suspension.

The cabin height also makes a huge difference for me at 6’1. In the 4Runner, I felt like my head was above the top of the windshield. LC is the roomiest height car I’ve driven. Full time 4WD and my strong preference for LC’s classic styling vs 4Runner’s ultra-muscly frowning double mustache look made the decision obvious for me. The SR5 makes sense if your budget is 42k, but I went with the 1958 LC and couldn’t be happier.

Also, the current market definitely favors the LC because the 4Runner just came out. The best you can do there for a while will be MSRP, while I got 5500 off on my 1958 which is relatively in low demand.

Totally agree on the 4Runner pricing vs LC at the moment. 4Runners are at or above MSRP and will be for a while. I'm wondering how far below MSRP LC LC's (any non 1958 config) are right now.

It depends on your location. In the Pacific Northwest, the 1958s are sitting on lots for a while so there are good deals on them. I don’t see a lot of LC trim and above, so you’d have a harder time negotiating that down. I’ve seen reports in this forum of some getting several thousand off on LCs though, so depending on locality it’s possible.
