Is the New 2025 Lexus LX 700h OVERTRAIL the Land Cruiser You Always Wanted? Andre and Jen go hands on with first-ever Lexus LX Hybrid Overtrail edition. It has three locking differentials.

I really like the OT, especially the engine. I think the non plus OT is a decent price point, especially if you are comparing it to the LC Premium.

Me? No.

I'm sure this appeals to quite a few folks over the Toyota-badged J250 "Land Cruiser (Prado)" that is currently being offered, and if they can afford it, more power to them...

But... I feel like a large portion of the 250 haters are, however, Land Cruiser enthusiasts, and their answer to the "Land Cruiser I always wanted" is more likely to be an older heavy duty (e.g. 70 series) or wagon (e.g. the 300 series) than it is to be a Lexus-badged 250 with an upgraded engine and more luxury features. (EDIT: 300, not 250...so yes, closer to the what many would consider to be a "real" Land Cruiser, but I'm leaving my original text)

I like the Toyota J250 LC for what it is and am happy I own one...but I'm not what anyone would consider to be a "Land Cruiser" enthusiast either (though I have always admired the well-maintained older ones)...rather, I'm a life-long owner of various Toyota trucks and cars, who shopped for and choose the 2025 Land Cruiser over a 4Runner or Tacoma. I don't care if you call it a "Prado", I wouldn't care if Toyota slapped a different name entirely on it...I like it for what it is.

If money were no object (spoiler alert, however, it is), would I rather have a Lexus LX700 Overtrail? Eh...probably not? I guess if I'm already spending that much, I also don't care about the even lower fuel economy, but I've never been one to prefer Lexus over Toyota, I really don't prioritize luxury features, and actually prefer a more rugged feel and look...and I'm also more than happy with the powertrain of the LC, so don't really long for a larger engine either... but that's just me.

Hard pass... and thats not secret.. Im trying hard to like TFL, but those dude are annoying as hell now.... the son is great. Give him the empire and walk away

That car is exactly what the entire world was saying they did not like about the previous generation Land Cruiser. Too big, too posh, too expensive. The LC we have today is literally a response to the North American market rejecting the concept of the last LC, which is echoed entirely in that Lexus.

I love it, and I'd probably have one in my garage if I were a multi-millionaire. Throw the executive package on there too. In reality, the 250 is the Land Cruiser I've always wanted.

Setting all the vitriol aside though, it is pretty damn nice. A bit more car than I was looking for.

Not really a Land Cruiser. But if youโ€™re shopping Range Rovers youโ€™d want to cross shop this.

The front end is about as nigth marish as it could get. A Soccer Moms, Soccer Mom Mobile, no matter what you did to change the look.
It has the truly presumptuous, look at me, Lexus logo on it.
Those guys are such pimps.

Having an alternator and the ability to run in the event of a hybrid system failure is a really cool feature. Obscenely expensive vehicle and I canโ€™t imagine spending that much actually taking it offroad, but in 5 or 6 years I bet you can get one of these used and have a pretty rugged off-roader. If money was no option (imagine), I would love this.

Oh also, you can run it electric only in some circumstances, which is also cool.

Ok, for all the complainers that say the LC 250 is not good enough and simultaneously too expensive, I finally found a solution for the ultimate luxury Tonka toy and a more affordable option.
