I had the year 1 5th gen 4r also. Dinky little horn, kinda funny, think I will keep it in.

Anyone else disappointed with the factory "meep meep/roadrunner" horn?

I replaced mine with the OEM Toyota Premium Horns. The kit comes with two larger horns. One 500 Hz & one 400 Hz.

Very satisfied and easy to install.

Just Google or Ebay search Toyota Premium Horn.

Yes, was able to use existing bolts and connectors. Did not need the wiring harness that came with the new horns. Easiest upgrade I've done so far. 8 plastic clips to remove plastic cover to access horns and 2 bolts, 1 per horn.

just put in some piaa superior bass twin horns in. Plug and play. No relays needed. Gives it a deeper tone that I think matches the size of this thing.

I received and installed the "Premium Horn 08522-B1010 KIT" this afternoon. It’s probably a 15 minute swap. I think I spent more time with the plastic cover then I did on the horns themselves. It sounds great now, like it should.

You’ll need to go into the DID (Driver Information Display), scroll to the gear "settings" and select lowrider.

Finally received my horn. I’m just hoping that someone has had good luck installing it. My instructions are in Japanese so I’m going to take a swing at it here this weekend and hope it sounds better when I’m done lol

It's literally a ten min job. 12mm ratchet.

Received mine today and the install was super easy, but they seemed DOA! Nothing, silencio! I noticed the bracket was off center and I needed to slightly rotate the bracket to get them to install with the horn opening pointing downward, but the harness was plug and play... and nothing. Re-installed the old "meep, meep" horns and will reach out to the eBay seller. Seem legit OEM Toyota, direct from Japan.

Honestly, I was underwhelmed by the Toyota premium horn upgrade. It is slightly better but still feels lacking. Seems like if you want to do an upgrade, it should be to something even louder/fuller.
