Hello internet world!
Just took delivery of my 1958 from the yota dealer in Western Canada. I removed all the plastic pieces under the front bumper and a cover for the hitch receiver. Got a set of BF Goodrich (255/75R17) and waiting for a set or steelies to arrive. I hope I will successfully downsize my wheel size without interfering the brake calipers. Iโ€™ll see how it goes. Cheers IMG_7538.jpegIMG_7545.jpegIMG_7549.jpegIMG_7551.jpegIMG_7550.jpeg

Congrats on the ice cap 1958! Loving mine. Not sure about steelies, but I put 17" alloy wheels on mine and they have 12mm clearance with the calipers - plenty of room. Hope yours works out as well.

Thanks TumaloCruzer!
Glad to hear that you successfully downsized to 17โ€ without any issues. It was a gamble for me. Pretty excited to put some parts to make it Baja ready!
Cheers,

looks amazing! congrats. Question - taking off the plastic front pieces, does that expose any vulnerable components? could you also post a picture of the rear without the hitch cover? Thanks!

Hi kobyneal, I think these plastic pieces are for better aerodynamics and contribute to fuel economy. Front shocks, struts and axles get less splash maybe. If you live in the area uses a lot of salt, they might work In the long run. For me nah I donโ€™t need them

Thanks for this! definitely looks better but being from up the road in Calgary (๐Ÿ˜„) the salt and sand all winter (Iโ€™m assuming) would have negative effects long term. Saying that would have to get under and see.
