Just ordered mine today

Can't wait to see how it comes out and your recommendation to do this to mine or not. My LC should be here about the time you get this completed if you get on it.

What winch does it use from Warn?

As long as there is manual operation when the wireless goes bad for any number of reasons I am sure it can be.
You won't be sorry with the Warn, you may know this already.
I am excited for you this is going to be a great mod and adder to your LC.

When you order the bumper from their website, it provides all options. The winch you can add in is DV8 Off-road 12,000 lbs winch / Synthetic Rope $709.99
Is it good just like warn ?

I don’t know , I know warn for many years , parts and service will be better. I don’t like disposables I am a recycler.

This is probably the best looking solution I’ve seen and I think the price is fair. I’m very close to pulling the trigger, but have some concerns about the significant added weight of the bumper plus a winch. In addition to some over landing and offloading I spend most of my time commuting on highways and wonder how this would affect front end performance, airflow, and even they already poor mileage?

The total weight of this DV8 bumper+winch is about 120 lbs. This combo is super clean and most lightweight comparing to full bumper-brush guard + winch.
We expect lower mpg for off-road rig. That happens across all vehicles

Does anyone know where toyota recommends power supply for front winch. I assume I will have to run wires from battery in back left to front with a junction box to the winch

i beleive there is a high current terminal set in the engine bay for jump starts look for that.
There was a good post here somewhere a few days ago, maybe jump start will find it.


The manual is in the maintenance area.

Page 620 covers getting a jump start. There doesn’t appear to be anything on jump starting another vehicle other than don’t use the same terminals you use for getting a jump start.

Boosting another vehicle

I haven’t come across this while skimming the users manual, and I feel like this is a stupid question, but if I were to boost another vehicle (or if I required a boost) do I use the 12V battery in the rear compartment or are there any points in the engine bay to hook up to?

Unfortunately, we have not wired the winch up yet. I have seen others online wire it to the rear main battery.

By the way Tech support at DV8 told me that they didn't wire winch to battery they just mounted bumper and winch for photo shoot . So they have no idea how to wire winch .

I just hate to drill holes into fender also , why would they put battery so farm from everything .
