Anyone else parking their new LC like this, or is it just me? πŸ˜‚

I do plus I take a couple of extra minutes to also attach magnetic foam half tube protectors to every door every time I park. I get some odd looks occasionally but I think it's helped avoid dings.

BTW, in case anyone is interested, this is what I use:

I had no idea that those were such a thing. I giggled then realized you were serious!

In the Subie, I parked wherever, and would give my partner the stink eye when he parked his truck way out in timbucktoo. Now I do the same thing he does and we just laugh.

I do this too, no matter what car I’m driving. I hate jockeying for position in parking lot traffic just to get the closest available spot by the door. I will judge you too if you block traffic sitting there waiting for somebody to pull out.

I tend to get the eye roll from my girl (and the stink eye if she is driving) because of my many faceted parking algorithm when picking a spot: whether there is a sidewalk/planter in the right; or a neighbor, and whether they went in front first or reversed in; which side of the slot to skew towards; Or is there a sideways slope, etc. Etc.... Reminds me a bit of that old joke about which urinal must be picked when walking into a men's restroom with a line of urinals and with various permutations of occupation... πŸ˜‚ I do laugh at myself but it must be working because my cars have very few dings while hers are always a pockmarked disaster resembling a war zone.

I’d rather park like this.

I have always parked my vehicles well away from others to avoid door dings. I’m constantly stunned at how careless people can be in parking lots. If I can’t park well away from others, I try to find end spots where I can snuggle the car up to the outside line/curb and leave a very large distance between the vehicles. When I parallel park, I also try to find end spots where I can position the car as far back or forward in the spot to leave as much room as possible for parallel parkers. My wife thinks I’m completely neurotic and can’t, for the life of her, understand why I stress about these types of issues. Oh well!

My wife must be related to yours…. She parks in narrow spaces between two cars and wonders why she has door dings. Drives me nuts.

This is the penultimate in strategic parking! I thought I only got to this level. Well done!

Problem with that, you walk out and there is someone ALWAYS parked right next to youπŸ™„
