Difference between LC / LC + Premium and FE

Right.

Perhaps I missed any significant difference in the wheels between the FE and the LC trim? Is it just matte black vs. matte grey? Also missed a 'dick' saying it was 'pointless', but it's not like I'm taking notes here...
Yeah let’s act hard on the internet. Keep running your mouth

I ordered an FE. On the toyota website at least in Canada you can see the major differences with the “compare “ option. In our case we lose the console coolbox (I have one on my current LC that I don’t use, because I have an ARB fringe) - I did it mostly for the skid plate and roof rack and I thought I would get it “first” instead of last. lol. (Ps: I’ve bought a prinsu track, so that was a bit of a downer the weight limits on factory rack ). It’s really about what is important to each individual. Like I don’t want paddle shifters, but I see people wanting to add them!

I kinda wish there had been a non-premium First Edition. The upgrades and prestige of the first edition are pretty cool to me. It’s the premium stuff I really don’t want.

I’ll be adding the skids to my non-premium LC soon after it comes in. Thinking about aftermarket roof racks and sliders but no rush there. Gotta save some fun for later! (I’ve got cross bars for now, which is plenty fine for paddle boards and cargo box).

i cannot do the compare in the U.S. via Smartpath. Kinda frustrating to see limited inventories.

Real Deal, Ask any 10 people on this forum and you'll get 20 opinions............... One can just click a button and not be pissed at all! Well maybe if you don't have a mouse, then you'd still be pissed.

Yes. For me, a 1958 FE, give me water resistant seats instead of leather, all the off-road goodies, skip the tech/luxury that is not off-road oriented. Like my 2010 4Runner Trail Edition was.

I like the simplicity of the stock rims plus I am a Michelin fanboy. I have seen Michelin Trails on most of the FEs and some 20K mile Dunlops on the 20" wheels. I understand the Michelins are made to Toyota's spec. but still hope to get their high mileage warranty. I saw Yokoyama tires on a 1958. Don't know anything about that brand of tire.
Not sure about Yokohamas for the Land Cruiser but loved them on my MR2 until they stopped making the size I needed

So if I wanted to make a lc trim out of a fe it would cost me 4k for tires, a couple grand for the upgraded rectangular lights. Probably a grand for the upgraded roof rack. Another grand for running boards not to mention it is already 6k more… Honestly, they are both great vehicles and ultimately share the same drivetrain, little things like headlights and rims/tires or obviously colors are going to be subjective. Get whatever you like and/or can afford. I’m happy for anyone who gets either of the three trim options.
Upgraded stereo and video screen too. The stereo in my FE is really nice. Haven't compared it to the trim but sounds way better than what I have in my FJ that cost $1500 to install.

I'm trying to figure out the main differences between the LC / LC + Premium and FE. Right now it looks like:

  1. Round headlights
  2. Roof Rack
  3. Mudguards

Is that it?
There's also:
4. Rock Rails
5. Upgraded Skid Plates
6. Leather Key Fob Covers
7. FE Badging
8. 1 of only 5,000

LC/LC Base Price: $61,950
Premium Package: $4,600
Total: $66,550
FE Base Price: $74,950
Difference between FE vs. LC/LC w/Premium Pkg: $8,400

I own a Trail Dust FE. But I would have been just as happy and $8,400 better off with a LC/LC w/Premium Pkg. So why did I buy it? Because I was number 33 on the waiting list at my local dealer. The very first LC that my dealer received was turned down by the person that had put a $1,000 deposit on it. My sales person called me. I immediately drove out and took it for a test drive. I said "i'll take it" before we got back to the dealer's lot. I now have over 2,000 miles on it and absolutely love it! Do I regret paying $8,400 for the "privilege" of owning one of 5,000 FEs? Nope. Was I being rational and intelligent? I don't think so. It was strictly an emotional decision that I may regret sometime in the future. But right now it's just a joy to drive.

I take it, your "Grin Factor" was worth the price of admission!

The 1958 is the only version to have an embossed “Land Cruiser” logo on passenger dash.

I’m a Michelin guy too, but the LTX trails maybe 20k throwaways as well after reading online reviews from 2022 Tundra owners. Hope it’s not the case but we’ll know better in a year or 2.

The 1958 is a Base First Edition. It is a limited edition model and the VIN is literally “Base/First Edition”. Everyone calls the Land Cruiser the middle grade, it isn’t, it is the only grade. Moving forward there will be Land Cruiser with option packages and some other special editions. Only the first editions get round headlights. The Land Cruiser will start as the 1958 does but with rectangular reflector headlights and be able to be optioned with softex, leather, projector headlights, upgraded infotainment, etc.
