This drives me nutsI'm glad I found this thread. I thought it was just me. Both my Jeep and my VW muted the radio when using Siri. This seems to be a very basic expectation overlooked by Toyota.
Me. Too.This drives me nuts
So you're saying, after starting the car and the wireless connection automatically connects, you then connect your phone via USB, and it works as we want or is there another step after connecting the USB cable like changing something in Settings? If the latter, and it needs to be done every time you start the car, that sucks.I have found if I use CarPlay via a wired connection, the behavior is what I’m used to (music pauses or is muted when appropriate). It’s a bit of a hassle because it always defaults back to the wireless connection when you first get into the vehicle.
I had same revelation with Android Auto...at first I was eager to use it wirelessly, as this was first vehicle I've owned that supported that, but found it's not quite ready for prime time and a bit glitchy.I have found if I use CarPlay via a wired connection, the behavior is what I’m used to (music pauses or is muted when appropriate). It’s not always consistent. The most successful path I’ve found is letting it connect wirelessly, then turn off WiFi on my phone, followed by connecting via USB.So you're saying, after starting the car and the wireless connection automatically connects, you then connect your phone via USB, and it works as we want or is there another step after connecting the USB cable like changing something in Settings? I wonder if the Toyota app is adding it back. It’s not always consistent. The most successful path I’ve found is letting it connect wirelessly, then turn off WiFi on my phone, followed by connecting via USB.
I’ve also selected “forget network” on my phone to keep the WiFi from connecting permanently with the system, but it always comes back.
Welcome to the asylum adafob.I’m so glad to have found this forum. I could’ve sworn I was the only brand new LC owner with this issue. It’s ridiculous to pay crazy money for a vehicle. Only for “CarPlay safety,” to be garbage. It defeats the whole CarPlay purpose. Toyotas app is total garbage as well.
