I did this same thing. Works for meI went camping in the LC for the first time last weekend. I bought a 4 inch thick Thermarest sleep pad. I then just up a folded blanked at the edge of backseat. You couldn't feel the step down from the seat to the floor. You could feel the incline a little but overall wasn't bad for a cheaper solution.
I bought a few sturdier foldable boxes (They are just 4-inch thick when folded) to pad the trunk. In the day time I can put all my sleeping bag and pad in these boxes. It is way more flexible than the fixed flatbed platform, and way cheaper as well. For a multi-use vehicle (instead of dedicated full time overlanding) I find it is the best arrangement.I did this same thing. Works for me
This is my solution. Way better than these $1000 permanent platform camping buildI bought a few sturdier foldable boxes (They are just 4-inch thick when folded) to pad the trunk. I like it! Do you mind sharing where you got this and what it's called?"This is my solution. Way better than these $1000 permanent platform camping build
This is the strongest folding box I can find. Still plastic but good enough.I like it! Do you mind sharing where you got this and what it's called?"
Hopefully you've got it strapped to the floor, could become a large flying object in an accident. This is the strongest folding box I can find. Still plastic but good enough.
Unless people run into my car in high speed while I camp in it otherwise I do not particularly worried about it. During my trip there are usually enough weight on the top of them and at home I donโt really keep these box in the car. Various random objects in the first row and second row is probably going to be more of a concern, and my travel partner also have a bad habit putting his/her legs on the windshield. If your car is rolling tons of stuff could hurt you bad anywayHopefully you've got it strapped to the floor, could become a large flying object in an accident.
