I don't know that it's just Toyota. My experience with Ford is awful as well. Maybe CarPlay itself is just lousy. You're WAY better off with a proper iPad or other tablet mounted elsewhere that just sends audio to the head unit.

Mine is working better as well. (Knock on wood)I just admit something must have been updated in the past 2 weeks and finally it’s been connecting automatically just like it’s supposed to. Happy early Christmas?
Same as thognar….just seems like a step back that we have to pause or turn down the music/radio before doing a voice command/SIRI…the two audios must not be linked.Same here on both points. In order actually use Siri, I have to pause the audio source first. Annoying. But... zero connection issues.
I don't have to turn the volume down to say a "SIRI" command......... do it just about every day.Same as thognar….just seems like a step back that we have to pause or turn down the music/radio before doing a voice command/SIRI…the two audios must not be linked.
I don't have to turn down the volume for SIRI for a command either, but the music/radio doesn't pause when the command is given so I can't hear SIRI's response...clearly, two different audio paths/linesI don't have to turn the volume down to say a "SIRI" command......... do it just about every day.
I've had success by pressing the radio volume knob once, turning the radio off, then waiting a few seconds, pressing the knob again to turn it back on, then a long press 20 sec or so, turning it off again (rebooting the radio) then pressing it to turn it on again. Doesn't work every time but sometimes. The only issue we have experienced with Apple car play is when using Google maps and or get a text message when listening to the radio. All seems fine and suddenly the radio disconnects and goes to my music, you have to press the connection button, click on radio.
It’s annoying when you have to go back, open the Toyota app and then hit radio 10 times in a long road trip.
Same problem here on a 2025. It's sporadic, but works as intended maybe half the time. I usually get annoyed and just type it out. This isn't a carplay issue. My 2021 GMC had a much better carplay experience.Same as thognar….just seems like a step back that we have to pause or turn down the music/radio before doing a voice command/SIRI…the two audios must not be linked.
