Anyone thinking about upgrading the exhaust or do you think it's a waste of money.

Saw this on YouTube - TrailRecon. He has done some pretty cool mods for serious off-roaders. What do you think about the exhaust mod?
Exhaust part is at about the 14 minute mark.

The factory exhaust works pretty well given the environmental and cost constraints for a vehicle like this. But if money is no issue, then there are probably some small incremental benefits in sound, departure angle, materials quality, and performance. In addition, the process of customization has a joy all its own.

However, if resources are limited, then perhaps it is better to spend the $1,200 instead on gas to take it for a trip and create a nice memory.

I'd rather straight pipe it.

$1200 for what should really be $200 in parts value, is just excessive. There's nothing innovative or remarkable about these exhaust systems which have been out FOREVER.
I was thinking this same thing. When saw the YouTube I was thinking maybe $600 at the most. Your probably looking at $1500+ all in with installation.

If its strictly clearance you are looking for, you can look at the NYTOP muffler delete/exhaust dump. Not cheap by any means though...

Signed up for Magnaflow when video was released, but seeing the price will need to think it over...it realistically shouldn't be over 1k

A boomy exhaust on a system that starts and stops as often as it does, would probably get annoying very quickly.

Notice this build isn't scheduled for delivery until February. At this point it's scheduled to be installed at the factory, port, or by the dealer. Interesting they're not calling it a TRD performance part, which would lead me to suspect it's being installed at the factory.
I don't think anyone can say for sure there's zero performance benefit to these different exhaust systems (or intakes) until they have been put on a dyno for measurement.

I've got a Premium build with the performance cat back exhaust on order for delivery at the end of January 2025, and have requested the dealer to remove that option. So many better places to spend $1400!

I notice the Toyota Genuine Accessories has part numbers now for stainless steel exhausts. PTRO3-60240 (Center Pipe) and PTR03-60243 (tail pipe). MSRPs are US$880 for center and $480 for tail.

Thats allot of $$$ for a little bit of sound. Kinda like high end audio systems.

They could add a few hp and likely more durable for those in the rust belt.
No HP, especially when new. Replace later when needed. get some use out of what was already paid for.
This would be categorized as, "more money than sense." ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿค‘
