2025 Land Cruiser offering optional liftgate lighting 😡

These are standard even on the 1958 in Canada, is that not the case in the US? They're adequate for my needs.
Yeah they are on my US 1958 and I think they absolutely suck. A bright led dome light over the cargo area is what is really needed. The one over the 2nd row is not adequate either. I think the ones on the lift gate may be too far back and my shadow will get in the way when I’m looking for something.

Good point about your body casting a shadow if you're standing in the middle.

Not that this is in dire need of addressing, but if I ever wanted to upgrade the setup, I would just upgrade the baby LEDs on the pillars and keep the setup 100% "stock". It's in an non-obscured spot, it's pointed the right way and you can use the leads that the existing light is using.

Yes it will be nice to see what type LED upgrades become available.

I, personally, don’t like anything about the 2025 Land Cruiser. The tailgate lighting is just inferior to my 2024 LC.

Additionally, my henchman did a 3 hour scratch and tap test on all the materials inside and outside of the 2025 LC, and it is clear the materials are inferior as well to my 2024.

Wait...how have you seen a 2025?? I've got a 24' LC LC premium and no lights on the back hatch at all. I have very small lights just inside the back hatch area near the side back windows but they don't do much.

Feels to me like the lights in the lift gate aren't that useful - seems like the would shine more on the ground than light any cargo. Anyone with an FE care to weigh in? I really mis the light in my GX that was just inside the barn door on the ceiling.

You are 100 precent correct. They add to the cargo area but if you have stuff in the cargo area, your shadow blocks any useful light. They work great when playing cards in camp chairs tho'

I am going to add cargo lights on/around the "D" pillar area, controlled by a separate switch.

(edit) added pics of what I did.

May have found a possible solution. CA Tuned Offroad came out with a shelf and you can run a Baja designs dome light for the cargo area!

I tried purchasing on website with PayPal and Apple Pay and it would not go through… it wasn’t for lack of funds…🤷🏽‍♂️

The only real disappointment is the lack of a few items to make it more offroad ready out of the gate, such as tires.
Oh my god the OEM Michelin trails are literally the worst rubber I’ve ever had the displeasure of driving on

What size of tote did you use? I installed mine and it seems it’s like 30.5 to 31 inches wide
