Greetings from northeast Ohio, the west side of the greater Cleveland area to be more exact.
When I was looking for something to replace my 2017 Chevy Colorado and saw a 1958 in Meteor Shower, I knew I was meant to own it, after all I was born in 1958 and I do astrophotography.
Not thrilled with the unavailability of a manual transmission and the Predator steps, but there was nothing I could do about the lack of a manual option and my wife really likes the steps, so the one on the lot was equipped right. As it turns out, a month into ownership I fractured my left hip socket (acetabulum) skiing. Without the steps to boost myself into the thing and the automatic transmission instead of a clutch, I would have been unable to drive for 6 weeks. (Only 3 more weeks of no weight bearing on the left leg.
)
As you can see in the photo, I have installed a Sherpa Atlas roof rack. The only other mod so far has been the installation of the Solid Wood Worx drawer system with the 60/40 hinged sleeping platform. Tires will get replaced before we start taking it on major road trips toward the end of summer. Don't do any technical off-roading but spend a lot of time on gravel and high clearance/4x4 roads. I was very happy with the KO2s on the Colorado, so will probably go with the KO3s for the '58. And contrary to the common trend, I plan to stick with the 245/70-18 size. With a D load rating in that size, the KO3 seems to be a good match for the combination of highway driving to get to where we are going, and the sharp gravel and rocks once we get there.
