I was able to downsize my wheels to 17 inch without any issues! It’s very tight especially in the rear but, the rear calipers aren’t interfering and turning freely. I always think the base trim Land Cruisers sold outside of North America are so cool! I grew up in outskirts of Tokyo and my place was located halfway between Hino’s Hamura Plant and the port. I remember seeing hundreds of “export spec”LC Prados and North American spec FJ Cruisers were getting transported to the port everyday. I wanted something not made for JDM so bad and that’s where my fantasies all started🤣
Now I live in a city in Western Canada and I do appreciate all the features like Apple Carplay, Toyota Safety Sence and etc., but I still want my LC look plane Jane almost looks like 70 series sold in Middle East. You can skip and ignore this post if this is not your cup of tea. It’s just my fantasy hahaha

Driving from Vancouver, BC to Baja, Mexico with my kids now. I didn’t have enough time to source the genuine lug nuts in Canada so I went to the dealership in Marin county, CA to get more appropriate type lug nuts(Acorn M14 x 1.5 capped). A guy at the parts counter was super helpful and he figured out older Tundra ones work! 👍 The original socket size was 21mm but now 22mm.
But I’m OK with that, cuz torque spec is around 100ft/lb.

Here’s the part numbers for these parts:

‘24 Tacoma Base Rim 42601-AK031

Tundra Base Lug Nuts 90942-A1003

Tires: BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN A/T
255/75R17

This is my dream too! I absolutely love that look and is exactly why I got a 1958. It’s just a utilitarian look that the Land Cruiser has always had. I have been investigating Toyota “steelies” sizes since before my 1958 came in. You did it and it looks wonderful and we need more pictures please. Thank you for posting this!

My pleasure Doomed! I think we have pretty much the same concept 👍 I even tried to find the non painted outside door handles but I had no luck so I removed them and painted so they look like texture black! Piano black door handles stood out too much and not suitable for bushwhacking. My next project is fabricate a plate for a pintle type trailer hitch!

At the first I just tried with the genuine steelies for 4Runner. 👎 Don’t make the same mistake! Bolt pattern is the same but the offset is totally off (ET15) and the wheels stick out like 50mm from the fender. Center bore is larger for Runner rims. 24 Taco base wheels are bang on everything matches!

This is excellent, thanks for sharing all the info! Your setup looks awesome (though I might have gone for the whitewalls on those KO2s). I have a white 1958 too and have REALLY been hoping to get into some silver steelies for that classic UN-spec look. Anybody know if these wheels also come in silver? I feel like an idiot trying to navigate the Toyota parts catalog sometimes.

Doesn’t look like the KO2 comes in white letters in that size. At least that’s what I have found. I agree white letters look cool on black rims.

I was hoping to find one in silver too. I was just happy to find the genuine rims even though ‘24 Taco 17 inch steelies are in dark metallic grey. I got tired of net surfing to be honest

Yeah I looked at the actual Curt product too. I’m trying to achieve tight fitment and it doesn’t stick out too much. I was thinking about cutting this and make it shorter, but the square part is solid forged steel and I felt it’s gonna be overkill. So I’ve decided to use this product below and fabricate the base plate for 2” receiver. In Canada we have stores called Princess Auto similar to Harbor Freight you guys have in the states. This product was dirt cheap and 5 ton capacity instead of 10 ton. Overall size is almost the same as Curt#28231 but the size of the hook is slightly smaller.

Yeah UN Troopy all day long here! Although I’ve been enjoying the practicality and fuel economy 👍
