Show us your LITS (LandCruisers in the snow)

if you want to drive you will be fine with the stock tires if you take proper precautions in areas that arent ideal. On that drive you would be dealing with more ice than deep snow. Slow down and you will be fine. Excessive speed is the cause of most winter issues. You are not going to get...

    Turned off LCA

Shutting off the nannies is less intuitive in the LC than my other cars. Bit of a miss IMO on Toyotas part.

17= the diameter of the rim 8.5= the width of the rim 6= the number of lug bolt holes 139.7= PCD (basically if you drew a circle connecting all the bolt holes what is the diameter of that circle) +25 is the offset from center

    Windshield cracked again

I have personally never owned a vehicle where the glass didn’t crack when hit by a rock. Struggling to understand the “quality” question.

    Tire Upgrade ?

Standard trim rims are +60 offset. Easiest to understand is the more positive the offset the closer the wheel is to the body of the vehicle. The more negative the offset the more the wheel moves away (pokes out) from the body of the vehicle. The more the wheel pokes out the smaller the tire...

Any small air compressor will work. Higher end=convenience in time. Lower end =takes more time. Both accomplish the same thing. I have never really offloaded enough to consider an engine mounted air compressor, and I off-road more often than many of the engine compartment mount guys. It is cool...

Better tires: there are many good threads on that tires to pick. I am running Nitto Terra Grapplers G3 275/70/R18. It is a great all around tire for on and offroad. A system to air down and air back up. Even though you won’t be rock crawling and doing heavy off-roading. Airing down the tire...

Performance Chips for the LC 250?

LC is not a performance engine. I would not use a chip to alter it in any way. There is so much technology engineered in keeping the LC turbo 4 cylinder engine cool (cylinder angle, volume, shape, injection, precision combustion) and that is the easy part. Longevity is directly related to heat...

“Queensland family ‘stranded’ after Toyota ‘rejects warranty’ on modified LandCruiser” News Article

In the photos it is clear that they chopped off the back half and retrofit it as an overlanding rig. I dont see a scenario where any car manufacturer is going to to warranty any defect in a vehicle that has been that altered from its original state even if it is a common practice. One would...

To shine, or not to shine?

Shiny tires is the easiest way to spot a pavement princess vehicle. Anyone who goes offroad with any regularity would never put a dust magnet on their car, especially not the wheels.

    Tire Upgrade ?

if you took the mudflaps and air dams off and did a significant lift it might fit, but you have to think of offset like a ball on a string where the string is the axel and the ball is the tire (not a perfect analogy but you get the point). The longer the distance between where the string...

    Tire Upgrade ?

Sorry to bear bad news. But 0% chance a 285 doesnt rub with a +18 offset. The more negative offset is the killer here. Stock offset it would fit.

    Nitto Terra Grappler G3

285/70. I would do 275, but it isn’t available in the SL in that size. If I can get all the components together it will be method 703 with +45 offset, 2.5 preload collars and 1 inch in the rear. I think it gives the best of all worlds, MPG, Ride, and look.

    Nitto Terra Grappler G3

I ran these for 150 miles in the 275. It really is an awesome tire. I’m moving to a 17 inch rim so I’m selling them if anyone is interested. I already have the G3 on order for the 17 inch rim. https://www.landcruiserforum.com/threads/275-70r18-g3-terra-grapplers-sl-on-stock-lclc-rims.2818/

    Ground Clearance

Ground clearance can be an issue but it is just one component (the other being articulation capacity). I like the way it is described here. This guy recommends keeping the LC (He is looking at the same platform GX) platform stock with minimal lift in the front for best results offroad.

The guys at westcott wont touch KO’s for this reason. They balance and ride very very poorly. Especially in the E rated version. I’ve run KO2’s on all my last 3 pickups and they were hardly manageable in the C rated version I was running. Any shop will tell you what a beast they are to balance...

    New tires+wheels

+45mm offset vs +60 offset gives is a little more agressive stance without compromising ride quality, it is also a better looking wheel.

    Upgraded my wheels and tires

100% the offset causing the rub. With a more positive offset you could fit 285/70's with no rub. Stock is +60. Anything over stock tire size has potential to have problems past a +40 offset.

Josh’s Cars of Japan - Land Cruiser Review

Cringy. I had to turn it off after the third cutaway to him scratching like a dog at the hard plastic with the annoying scratching sound. 1700 miles of ownership and I really enjoy mine. LC LC trim. I would buy it again.

That look is so on. Little too much offset for my taste, but close. Great looking LC. Congrats. If I could get that look without sacrificing off-road and on road performance I would have done it already. One thing I think is counter intuitive to people is how more negative the offset is the...
