The T24A is made in Alabama, Kentucky and I believe West Virginia makes it to. These are for the North American built vehicles. The one in the LC is built in Japan.
This is because they’re diesel. The PTC heater is automatic and not mentioned in the 4Runner manual. I didn’t know the 4Runner had it until I researched and checked for it.
The T24A doesn’t have a traditional thermostat. It uses some type of recirculating valve to help with warm up. I’ve noticed on mine the engine does warm up fairly quickly. The water pump is indeed belt driven. This is the only belt driven accessory on the engine.
On the 4Runner the PTC was only used when engine wasn’t at operating temp. When the vehicle was warmed up the PTC turned off. If the T24A warms up quick then a PTC won’t be needed. The 4Runner engine wasn’t quick at reaching operating temp in the winter.
I wonder if these LC have auxiliary heat for when engine isn’t warm enough to provide heat. I had a 19 4Runner and it had auxiliary heat called a PTC heater. The PTC relay spot on these is empty.
The 20A plug is close the the hatch on the right side. It’s rated at 2,400 watts I believe. The button to activate is to the left of steering wheel. I believe the vehicle must be on to use the plug.
On my LC it’s either 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd I can feel it shifting. Any other time it shifts it’s pretty smooth. The level of basic on the 58 drove me away from it. I got the LC with premium package. I came from a 19 4Runner.
It’s very sensitive. I’ll have my lunchbox in the floor touching the rear seat. The system picks this up. I think it’s awesome Toyota has this feature.
It’s probably a common noise with nothing to worry about. The T24A has been around for 3 years in high use. I can’t see the engine having problems just because it went into a Landcruiser. This being a new vehicle it will most likely have sounds were not use to.
